Kudos for producing pepperoni free of nitrite or nitrates which are converted into carcinogens and degenerative neurotoxins by gut bacteria. However the taste is poor compared to a similar but "nitro" product due to the addition of two unnecessary ingredients: "Lactic acid starter culture not from milk" which makes the pepperoni more sour than saurkraut; and rosemary - makes the taste weird. Herbs like rosemary and oregano have their place in gourmet Italian dishes, but not in pepperoni ( hint - pepperoni, not oregoni or rosemaroni). Rosemary is a fad preservative, even added to pet foods. My dog turns up her nose at a premium grain- and soy-free kibble, because it contains - you guessed it - rosemary. Never see wolves or dogs munching on rosemary or oregano bushes. Talk to your food chemists and save production costs by omitting these taste-destroying ingredients: then the product may be rated 5 stars!
