In the interest of full disclosure, I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promise that my review is fair and honest.
Included in the box is the 5 port charging block, approximately 5' AC cord, and one velcro straps for cord management. As usual, there is little to no wasted space and what I call no hassle packaging. I don't need tools and I am not going to fill up my trash with unnecessary packaging.
A first impression is that the charging block is large, but once I considered that it includes 5 PowerIQ ports it is a lot of charging capacity in a relatively small package. It is plenty solid and feels more than capable of withstanding the bumps and tumbles that invariably happen with chargers. Also, having only one cord necessary from the wall, and your choice of cord length from the block to your devices, you can easily accommodate a setup that works for your situation.
The five standard ports easily charge my devices at least as fast as the OEM chargers when I was able to match charger to device. With this there is no need to worry about 500mA output for this, 1A output for that, 2A output for the other. The Power IQ technology detects the optimum charge level and matches it for the devices. All of the ports include surge protection, overheating protection, as well as other protections built into Anker chargers.
The Anker PowerPort 5 goes a long way in taming my cord mess and getting all of our charging needs in one place. Instead of having the charging block on the wall and the USB cord mess running to the phone, or running a kitchen extension cord with a bunch of charging blocks plugged into it, this has a single cord similar to those used for laptop chargers that plugs into the charging block. This allows the block to be placed out of the way or in a convenient location. In my case, a hidden nook in a phone and wallet station. From there I run my USB cables to the devices to be charged. A couple of nice additions include a velcro cable tie on the AC cord so you can tie up excess cords to keep things neat.
The PowerPort 5 USB-C is great for anyone has that place where all the phones, tablets, smartwatches, and portable chargers congregate for overnight charging. You can get rid of extension cords, multiple charging blocks, rats nests of power blocks and USB cables or the pesky chore of having two things plugged in here, two more over there, and wandering around the house collecting electronic gadgets to head out for the day. In total this is a great charger I would highly recommend.
