1. You can use this item only with dual voltage products or along with transformers.

2. Most cell phones and other electronic devices these days are charged using USB. The plug that actually plugs into the wall is actually a transformer that steps the voltage down to 5V to be able to use the USB. This is true with anything that charges off of USB. The plug should state on it somewhere that it is dual voltage or you should be able to look in the user manual that came with your phone that should state that it is dual voltage. It would be very strange or would be a very old phone to NOT be this way. With this case you only need this adapter and you do not need a transformer.
