    • A. No, it is not fireproof. All fireproof safes are rated by Underwriters Laboratories and bear their seal somewhere, usually on the door. Fireproof safes weigh considerable amounts due to the Portland cement lining in all the walls, floors and doors.

    • A. Thicker than a cabinet. Thinner than some safes. You could probably smash through it with a sledgehammer. But it would take a while. It bolts to my wall and even if broken from the wall, would be somewhat cumbersome to carry away. If someone were to break in, while I was away, they would have to make a lot of noise to open it, as it has a five bolt door.

    • A. It is much better than metal gun cabinets, but not as heavy duty as the expensive gun safes. The door is so heavy that if opened before the unit is screwed into wall studs &/or floor the unit will fall over. Five locking bolts: one on top, one on bottom & two in the door seem heavy duty. We looked at gun safes that cost 3-4 times as much as this one that were only minimally stronger.

    • A. It's got a fabricated hollow door about 2" thick with 5 -3/4" locking bolts. 1 on top, 3 on opening side and 1 on the bottom. It's a step up from a stack-on as stack-on material thickness is .50" and this one is .90" , but for 69 pounds and it's size it's made of light material but has a much better door and you gotta open the door to get in.

    • A. While not quite a safe it is much more than the low end stack on products with a far better locking system ,it's a solid one piece unit versus seams or even worse the unassembled screw together models ,the carpet lining is a nice addition as well ,lack of reviews made my decision difficult but glad I bought this one

This is my first long-gun safe. I own an 870 wingmaster modified for home defense with an 18" barrel, browning 12ga, remington 30-30 and a bushmaster ar15. Everything will fit in the safe fine, but be warned that an AR15 needs to be leaned to the side slightly. It cannot be straight up or the door will not close. Not a big deal, just an FYI. Also, I'm glad I played around with locking and unlocking the safe before actually installing it. Eventually, I could not turn the key to open the safe. It was totally stuck. I had to turn the safe upside down and shake it a bit before I could unlock it. You can take the cover off and expose the locking mechanisms. There are a few spots you should drop some grease on and since I did that I have not had a problem using the key to unlock. So if I were you I would take off the locking mechanism cover, see how it works, and add some grease to a few spots. You'll see under the plate where everything moves and where to put grease. Other than that I love this safe and bought it for it's size. Fits great in my little closet and fits what I have (so far anyway, can't have too many). I bolted the safe 2 ways. I cut out the carpet to fit the size and got to bare concrete. I had a friend come over with a hammering drill. A regular drill will not work. I could only get the drill to go 1/2" into the concrete and that took a long time. With the hammering drill, it took 10 seconds to get 2" deep. So rent or have a friend for mounting to the floor. He also brought over his own bolts and washers instead of using the stock bolts so I got lucky with that. Then I just used regular toggle bolts to mount to the drywall since I didn't have a stud to screw it in. Mounting to the wall isn't necessary but I wanted extra protection. Either way, it needs to be mounting because it will fall over. Especially if the door is open. If it were a couple inches deeper, it could fit an AR15 no problem. Just keep that in mind if you're buying it to store multiple AR15's. Might could fit 3 max instead of the advertised 5 since you have to turn them slightly sideways. I can only fit 4, but it will fit a full-size long barrel shotgun and the shelf no problem. Overall a great safe and I highly recommend it if you own a handful of longguns. I've had it for a few months now.

This safe is not very heavy, because it's capacity is limited. It's more than what I need, but I had a frustrating time with it right out of the box. The skeleton key that came with it did not want to turn all the way over and allow the door to swing open. The key would turn from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock with no issues, but needed to keep going to about 2 o'clock in order for the bolts to be completely out of the way. The directions were locked inside. When I did finally get in, I took the covering plate off from the inside of the door and really oiled up all of the moving parts, including the key slot. By moving it around many times it has loosened up some, but it doesn't always work flawlessly. I would highly recommend that you bolt this safe down to the floor or into a wall stud though, because it is pretty light and can easily be moved around. For the money, I'm well enough pleased with it, but those of you who don't necessarily feel like going through the hassle of the locking mechanism may want to just spring for a more expensive unit.

This is a great little cabinet if you only have a couple of weapons. The lock is a bit cumbersome as the keys are the old fashion large keys no one wants on their key chain. Securing them will be a problem. An actual door latch with a normal key would have been a better choice. The door is much heavier then the entire unit which causes a problem if you can't bolt it to the floor or the wall (I live in an apartment so I have to find another way to keep it from tipping when you open the door). If it were only 3 inches wider, or deeper, my ammunition can would fit... It would be nice if there were places for a bungee cord to hook to for securing the weapons, but I'll add that myself. Overall this is good little safe for money, especially if you don't have much room and you don't have more then a couple of weapons.

I picked this gun safe because according to previous reviews it seemed better than a simple gun cabinet. It arrived with minor dents and scratches, as most other reviewers have posted. I unlocked it, looked inside, locked it again to move it - and the lock got jammed. The key turned, it 'felt' like the safe should unlock, but the door was stuck. No amount of jiggling or shaking, turning the whole safe upside down would make it open again. Thank goodness we had not bolted the safe down or put property in yet. It went back within the hour, and I requested a refund. Maybe this does not typically happen, but I am not willing to risk having a jammed safe door.
