This is a dense but great book about food. Where does it come from, how is it made and processed and transported? These are questions that are not asked enough, and this book, through cartoons and a kindly grandma, seeks to explain. Each ingredient in her recipe gets a page that explains its origins and journey, and there is a lot to learn! The pictures are lively and fun, in contrast to the often heady information shown.

This book is really fun to read and to learn as the same time. I enjoyed so much with this book because the pictures and the story line is a lot detail that I cant miss any words. Well I love it because not that I can learn to bake a cookie but in a meanwhile, I can understand about where all the ingredients came from and how all the ingredients that turn out to make a yummy cookie. The pictures look so pretty and clean. The art work was nice and very real. I cant wait to go follow the recipe so I can make some cookies now.

Goes through each ingredient of a chocolate chip cookie and where they come from. It explains where geographically they come from as well as how they are processed. This is a fun way to explore food and what goes into it. It could be a great way to start a study of food and environment and could go in many different directions and could create a lot of awareness. I could see using it to explore animal treatment in dairies or hen houses or sustainability or many other topics. It also could just be fun. It is written in an easy to read style with funny little comments added by animals and illustrated in a simple and fun way.
