I just needed a good phone. I'm 62, think that Facebook and Twitter and all these apps are for the young folks...I could care less. This phone has good sound quality, is relatively straight-forward to use and does the job. The camera is nice to have and is good enough for my needs...which was basically a phone, at a good price that I could basically transfer my SIM card into and keep most of my contacts. The screen is decent sized and, again, meets my needs. For the price, you can't beat it!

I just needed a good phone
Great phone for the money
A few months ago I was in the market for a new phone that I could use to make/receive calls and access the internet with. The Alcatel OneTouch Pop Astro for T-Mobile seemed to have everything that I was looking for, and its $64.88 price tag seemed to be too good of a deal to pass up; so, I bought the phone. One of the first things that I noticed about the phone was its call quality. Moreover, calls are often connected in HD meaning that the audio is very clear. Also, the phone's 4.5" screen is large enough for me to view web pages on without having to squint. Further, the screen and keyboard are also both large enough for me to type on without constantly hitting the wrong key. The 1.5 GHz quad core processor allows me to change screens as well as stream video very quickly and with very little lag time. The phone's (KitKat 4.4.4) operating system allows me to turn off undesired programs. More importantly, being able to turn them off has allowed me to pick up a little extra processing speed; which of course, I have no complaints about. So, whether someone is looking for a phone with great call quality or a phone to access the internet with, for $64.88, I don't think one can go wrong with the Alcatel One Touch Pop Astro.
Great phone for the price
I got this phone as a replacement because mine broke and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I already had a T-Mobile account/plan, so I just plugged in my SIM card and installed all my apps. It's a very nice device and seems reliable, and at this price range it's a great option. It sometimes lags just slightly if I'm trying to do things quickly or multitasking, but it always catches up almost instantly and isn't really a big problem. Video streaming apps work fine. I bought a 32GB MicroSD card because the internal storage is very small.
Surprisingly capable budget smartphone
Pros: Superior call quality, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, Band 12 LTE, quad core processor, microSD card slot, excellent build quality and cellular reception. Cons: 4gb of internal storage, 1GB of ram, camera shutter lag, camera low-light performance is poor, phone gets relatively warm on calls. Screen is hard to see in bright sunlight. For price, this phone is a phenomenal value. Compared to the other phones in this price range, this is by far the best in terms of specs and build quality. I also grabbed a ZTE Obsidian to do some comparison, and the ZTE is definitely going back. The ZTE lacks VoLTE, HD-Voice, and the build quality overall screams "cheap". You'll have to move apps (that allow it) to the external microSD card slot if you want to free up your internal storage for other internal-only apps. This is a minor annoyance for me, but could be overhelming for someone who isn't comfortable navigating the settings menu. Overall, this is a great budget phone that does all the basics and low-intensity apps very well. Music, web browsing, navigation, yelp, uber/lyft, skype, texting, and phone calls run perfectly on this device.
I enjoy this item. It wotks well, has a pretty advanced camera and features, for the price. I also enjoy T-Mobile plans so this is a purchase I'm pleased with :-)
