In the 10th outing of ...

In the 10th outing of this series, Agatha raisin is determined to start a new life without James Lacey, her a,most husband. She rents a small cottage in Fryfam, a small village in Norfolk and immediately encounters problems. Log heating, no microwave set Agatha to thinking that she will only rent until James comes back then return to her own cottage. However, she has more pressing problems: what are those tiny flickering lights in the back of her garden and who killed the man in the manor house in the same way she is wriying in her book. Enter her friend and sometime lover,Sir Charles Fraith to help her solve her personal life and the village mystery. Charming as usual, this book is M.C.Beaton at her best. Agatha solves the crime and the mystery and at the end sees James again. If you are not a series reader, this one book will help you get smitten with English cozy . First-rate!!

Theres nothing I can ...

There's nothing I can add to my previous reviews of the series - they are all pretty similar. Agatha is still moping over James Lacey & whilst he's not much in evidence in this book,he still makes the occasional appearance. All the usual village characters & charactertures make an appearance and as always, Agatha eventually solves the crime. The location of this book sees Agatha running away to Norfolk to avoid James and, of course, immediately causes a stir and gets involved in a murder. All else is pretty much the same - good escapism reading for a wet Sunday afternoon. You get exactly what you expect.

Agatha flees Carsley t...

Agatha flees Carsley to get over James Lacey and rents a cottage in Fryfam. Her first night there she sees twinkling lights in the back garden. Her friend Sir Charles arrives to keep her company and as usual people get murdered and Agatha stumbles around putting herself in danger while trying to solve the murders before the police. Agatha spends the entire book mooning over James. She never discovers the truth about the twinkling lights that the superstitious locals call fairies.

Short and sweet. Agatha blunders into the solution. She has with Charles and ends up married to James despite warnings from all her friends. Poor Agatha.

If Agatha could stop t...

If Agatha could stop thinking with her hormones for a little while, she'd be a whole lot more interesting, I think. This mystery was extremely bland, but I was glad to see Sir Charles back in the story again. I'll give it a 3.
