The AcuRite Lightning Detector provides lightning protection by warning you of cloud-to-ground, cloud-to-cloud and intra-cloud lightning strikes within a 25 mile (40 km) range. The lightning monitor notifies you with a loud alarm, flashing red LED light and text message on the backlit display when storms or lightning are within range. Pocket-sized with no-slip clip for portability. The detector features enhanced interference rejection capabilities to prevent false lightning detection. Outdoor and indoor operation modes. One-year limited warranty. It's more than accurate, it's AcuRite.

AccuRite Portable Lightning Detector
Just had the opportunity to check the lightning detector in an office environment, as a thunderstorm rolled through. As long as the unit was near a window, it quickly registered strikes. I had to restart it a few times as it surpassed the 199 strikes level that the display has for an upper limit. Will see how it performs in a home setting next. So far, it's doing its job!

I like it a lot the color display and the mini speaker on the device and the beep you can switch it off for 60 minutes or turn it back on the only thing i do not like is the interference when i am trying to use the device indoors i have WI-FI in my House and a laptop Computer i relocate the device from the computer and tv. I would like to know will you guys make a mini carying case for the device to protect it from rain if you get caught out in the rain to protect it sense it is not waterproof.

I don't know that I needed a lighting detector, but it is interesting to log the strikes around our home. Seems pretty accurate based on seeing lightning and hearing thunder. We will take it when we go hiking on days with storms in the forecast.
