AcuRite 01529M Wireless Weather Station with 5-in-1 Sensor is made of two parts. One is for indoors which is a monitor and second part is for outdoors which is the weather station sensor. They are wirelessly connected to each other. Both devices should be placed within 330 feet in order to connect and if you follow directions it should be very easy to synchronize devices with each other.
The 7-and-a-half-inch monitor that controls the sensors feels richer that it is. It runs on an AC adapter that is provided but it also has slots for batteries in case of a power outage. Screen is split into several categories for easy reading and understanding such as indoor and outdoor temperature, wind direction, speed, etc. It is very important that monitor is at least 3 feet away from TV or any other electronics in order to prevent interference.
AcuRite weather station sensor comes with all hardware needed for installation. It is a very simple installation but it is very important that weather sensor is not obstructed from any side. In other words it should be clear of anything 360 degrees horizontally and vertically. On top of the weather sensor there is a solar cell panel that charges the station. There is also a rainfall collector that measures rain precipitation. In addition, there is a wind speed anemometer which measures the speed of wind. Wind speed anemometer needs 360 degrees of clearance for proper measure. On the bottom of the weather station there is a wind direction vane which also needs 360-degree clearance so that it can determine the exact side the wind is blowing from. On top of everything else it is also good to install it at least 5 feet or more from the ground if possible.
Overall I think it is a very nice and affordable “private weather station” that measures the weather at your location. We will see how durable it is when it starts snowing.
