I have a confession to make, I'm in love with my new Acer Spin 1 notebook! It may be little, weighing in at less than two pounds with an 11.6-inch flip screen, but it puts certainly packs a wallop and puts larger, more expensive laptops to shame. In fact, I have another laptop that I own - a 15.6-inch flip screen laptop that costs at least $300 more - and this Acer outperforms that laptop at every turn. Maybe it's the super fast Pentium 4200 quad-core processor with 4 GB DDRL and 63GB eMMC or maybe it's the bright and super responsive Full HD (1920 x 1080) Widescreen LED-backlit IPS touch screen... All I know, is I can't seem to put it down. It has become my new go-to device for surfing the web, shopping online, watching movies and TV shows, and catching up on work-related emails. My Acer Spin 1 arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with a anti-static cloth wrapped around it and foam bumpers to keep everything safe. It took very little effort to unpack the notebook and setup was a breeze. I just entered my email credentials and Windows took care of the rest. The Spin 1 comes with Windows 10 S (also known as Windows 10 Home in S mode) which offers enhanced security as it only allows users to download approved apps directly from the Microsoft Store. However, if you are an advanced user like me, you may prefer having a little more control over the apps you can install. In that case, you can easily switch your operating system to Windows 10 Home Edition for free and even upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for a nominal fee, if you wish. Just follow the link provided in the user manual to the official Microsoft web site for directions on how to switch. The Acer Spin 1 offers a lot by way of preloaded apps, including Windows Ink and a free 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365. Sound quality is crisp and clear, too. It has two built-in stereo speakers with a microphone and a front facing webcam so you can listen to music, watch videos, or video chat to your heart's delight. Connect a soundbar, speakers, or earbuds and you've got yourself a mini entertainment system that you can easily carry in your tote bag, backpack or briefcase. I've been able to cast content to my flat screen TV wirelessly and by way of the notebook's HDMI port and have noticed no lag time with music or videos. There are also two USB ports and a micro SD card slot to access saved media files via a flash drive or digital camera. I especially love the Bluetooth feature, which allows me to connect my wireless earbuds and listen to my favorite podcasts while doing chores around the house. WiFi is dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), easy to connect, and it stays connected for as long as I need it. The battery life is really nice, too. I've been able to run the Acer for about 9 hours straight before needing to recharge it. Honestly, the only thing missing is a backlight for the keyboard to illuminate the keys while typing in the dark, but the screen does a good enough job of that already which is probably why Acer decided not to include that feature in this particular model. All in all, I am more than satisfied with my new notebook. It's cute, compact, portable, super fast, and it offers a fantastic user experience at a reasonable price. High recommended!
