I bought this computer at my local Walmart a little over a month ago. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is fast, efficient, and does exactly what I need it too do. I have had several windows open at a time with no problems with it freezing up or lagging. I am learning WordPress and setting up a website of my own. It has worked beautifully during the whole process. Boot up is pretty fast for a Win based machine, although I don't have a lot of extra's taking up memory to boot up. Wifi is really strong and works very efficiently never dropping my connection. A lot of people don't like Windows 8 and 8.1 but I really like it. Win XP will always be my favorite and honestly now that I have this laptop I despise my old netbook with Win 7. To me Win 8 is less hassle and boot time is a lot faster. While I am not a techy, IT or anything like that I still know a little about computers as I have had more than one since 1993. With the exception of my old EMachine Win XP this is by far the best computer I have ever had! Would make a great gift for a college student or small business.

Low price and high performance!
Has performed very well with every app and software I've thrown it's way. Never lags. Boots very quickly. Sound quality is very good at all volumes. Battery is on average with other laptops I would assume. I've always had lagging/freezing issues with laptops I've had in the past while playing videos, and this is not the case here...able to run 4K ultra HD videos with absolutely no problems displayed full-screen on a beautiful LED screen! With 1 TB worth of storage, I don't think I will ever run out of room. Windows 8.1 was a little intimidating at first, but I quickly caught on.
Works great for everything I need.
This laptop works great for everything from schoolwork to light gaming. No lagging for youtube videos or Netflix. World of Warcraft and Cubeworld run with no issues. Smooth scrolling through Facebook and other pages even with multiple tabs and windows open. Overall, a great value for the price.
Fantastic Purchase!
It is better than I was anticipating. The speed is phenomenal, The capacity is incredible and it is very simple and easy to use. The mouse pad can be a little temper mental; but apart from that I have no complaints. However, if this is your first time using windows 8 at all, the transverse can be a little difficult at first.
Love this computer for the price
This computer is a little bigger than I like, but it runs great. 6GB of memory is plenty to run many processes including memory hogging games. The 1TB HDD is wonderful and plenty big enough to store all kinds of files and data. I have loved having the full number keypad as well as a normal size QWERTY keyboard. I hate laptops that shrink keys to save size. I originally did not want a 15.6 in laptop. They are heavier than I prefer, but I've ended up getting use to it rather quickly, and the laptop works great. I love this purchase. Can't be it for the cost.
Best for the Price
i5 Processor with 6 GB RAM is difficult to get for 400 USD. The Pros clearly outweigh the cons. If you are looking for a laptop with good processor and a battery,go for this. Pros: -No lag in Performance. I was able to run matlab without a decrease in speed -Battery: The battery in the laptop is simply amazing. I can use it for 14 to 16 hours for reading. Even if I run matlab, I could still use it for 8 to 10 hours Cons: There are a few cons which are minor. -Touchpad is poor. It is not that convenient to use compared to dell or lenovo -The Keyboard looks cheap -No Touch Screen -Comes with several useless acer softwares. You can uninstall it but takes time to do it. I don't think any other company gives i5 processor with 6 gb ram for $400 . This is probably the best lap if your budget is 400-500.
Do NOT Buy This Computer
On paper, this should be a pretty decent laptop. Good processor, built in M-Disc ready drive and plenty of memory. I got it at Christmas and it's been nothing but misery for me. I've owned 6 other laptops and this is, by a wide margin, the absolute worst one of the bunch. It frequently is unresponsive when running even the simplest software. The touch pad is quirky on almost a daily basis, freezing up with an alarming regularity. If you close the laptop, whatever browser you use crashes. At least a dozen times now, I've had to remove the battery and do a full reboot just to get the computer to wake up. Wish I could give it zero stars.
Save Your Money
I have had this computer for 4 months, and already it is lagging anytime I do anything and constantly crashing. I have been really disappointed in this machine. The things I'm experiencing now, I only experienced after several years with my last laptop. I think it is a cheaply made machine, and I will never again buy an Acer Product. Nor will I ever again buy something as important as a computer from Wal-Mart. If you have the option, spend a little more money and buy something that is going to work for you!!
Absolute Garbage
Words cannot express how utterly useless this laptop is...however I shall try. I've had it for about 3 weeks now...1 week too long to be covered by WalMart's generously comprehensive 15 day warranty, but just long enough to now see it in it's flaming ineptitude (and for Wal Mart to lower the price by $100 annoyingly). Here are just a few of it's not insubstantial shortcomings: -This week, three screws have fallen out of the underside of the laptop...2 of them appear to be part of the housing assembly...no idea where the third is from. -The screen is completely useless when exposed to any kind of daylight. Vampires take note! However...the keys aren't backlit...figure that one out. -Praying for the cursor to move where you want it will prove far more accurate and timely than using the trackpad. -The listed i5 processor with turbo boost somehow struggles to deal with the simplest of tasks. Browsing image heavy sites means constant crashing and incredibly slow loading times. Just a few things here, but they essentially render the computer useless for most things without massive frustration. Stay away
SENT FOR REPAIR TWICE IN FIRST MONTH
I PURCHASED THIS UNIT IN OCTOBER OF 2014. I HAD TO SEND IT TO THE FACTORY FOR REPAIRS WITHIN THE FIRST 2 WEEKS. THEY RE-IMAGED THE HDD AND UPDATED THE BIOS...WHICH DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEM! AFTER ANOTHER WEEK WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE...I HAD TO SEND THE UNIT BACK IN FOR REPAIR A SECOND TIME! THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE COMPLETE MOBO ASSEMBLY AS WELL AS THE KEYBOARD. FINALLY...AFTER 2 MONTHS...THIS UNIT SEEMS TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY...BUT WHO KNOWS FOR HOW LONG...
