Had a little trouble getting this one in, seems the delivery people kept misplacing the order or couldn't find our house. Walmart.com was quick to send a replacement which was also lost in the delivery process. So we went with Site-to-Store, which did take a bit of time, but worth the wait. I had the ability to pick it up when I was ready to and didn't have to worry about it being left at my front door, as the delivery order stated on the 2nd delivery attempt.
Now on to the computer, this is the 2nd Acer laptop I have purchased, and am really impressed with their systems. The laptop is a little wide if you are looking for something to set on your lap while watching TV. The speed of the processor is great, I don't have to wait for anything to load and the start up is really fast as well. Once Windows loads up, I can start whatever it is I need to do and don't have to wait for the system to warm up first. The keyboard is really nice and very receptive, it has the newer style of keys, where they are more like buttons than traditional keyboards. I believe with this layout, you are less likely to get dust and debris stuck under the keys and causing problems in the future.
One drawback, it does not come with recovery disks, I've been told that most computers don't anymore. So you will need about 10 blank DVDs to burn your own, which it gives you the ability to do so upon the initial start up and will remind you to do so each time you turn it on, if you skip the initial step.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is looking for a good deal on a new laptop.

Worth the wait!

I took quite some time, shopping for my new laptop and finally chose the AS7741G-6426. I am very impressed. This laptop has everything that I was looking for in this price range.

Pros: Dedicated graphics that can keep up with some of the newest games on highest settings (Dead Space 2 and StarCraft 2). 17.3" screen w/ 1600x900 resolution looks very bright and clear. HDMI out works great for video and audio. Exceptional wireless connectivity.

Cons: Keyboard is not back-lit. The screen is glossy and does give off some glare in certain lighting. The speakers, although not horrible, are very poor. I recommend getting a nice pair of headphones or desktop speakers for everyday use.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I love this laptop. The built in fan does a great job of exhausting heat, but I recommend elevating it with some sort of laptop cooler to improve airflow. The touchpad is not perfect, but it works. I usually use a wireless mouse, but when I do use the touchpad, it seems very responsive. The multi-gesture (zooming and scrolling) works great and can come in handy.

It may be worth mentioning that since the second generation i-series (sandy bridge) processors will soon be implemented in newer laptops, waiting to buy could be a good idea. The new i5's look promising and boast much better performance and less power consumption.

Great performance

First off,I have to say that the shipping was amazing.I paid for 1 day shipping and while walmarts estimated arrival date was wensday to Thusday it came today after the order being placed yesterday.

Anyway,some reviewers claim that the trackpad is bad but i dont think so it is very good in my opinion.The laptop has great performance and is fast.Ideal for someone who needs a good computer for school but is also in a budget.

One complaint is that there is no help as to which drivers need to be downloaded so people like me who are not computer savvis will not be able to figure it,i know i wasn't.The ;aptop gets pretty hot so I decided to get a nice cooler.

The laptop was easy to start and connected to my home network extreamely easily.

To conclude i highly recommend this laptop to people who need a good laptop with a cheap pricetag.

Great Laptop for the price.

it took me awhile to pick a new notebook so i went with acer cuz my last one was and acer and worked well i sold it so i can get get a newer updated one. the processor is grate would get the i5 or i7 but the only thing is i7 cost alot more. grate for games and downloading or updating windows real fast. and the hard drive lots of space of music game pic's or videos. and the hard drive is a wd so u no it will last. the only thing i did too is was made the 4gb to an 8gb to make it faster. love it works like it should

Fast

This computer is very fast and works very well. The only problems I have with it are minimal.

1. The CD drive is hard to open
- The button to open it is too small
2. There is no light indicating whether caps lock or number lock is on

Otherwise, a great purchase.

This is my first experience with purchasing from walmart.com ~ and, I couldn't be happier ~ the Acer Aspire AS7741G-646 17.3" laptop is everything I wanted! I especially like Acer's Customer Service ~ very thorough and pleasant. I recommend this computer and the whole order process ~ great way to shop.

Great Laptop!

This computer can currently play every game in the market. For example it can play Battlefield 3 and Skyrim. I would not recommend you play these games on the highest settings, instead the computer is best at medium setting for newer games. You may also want to consider buying a better battery for this laptop, because without being pugged in your battery will only last 2 hours at most, and even less if you are playing a game or watching a long movie.

Great mid-level gaming computer.

This is a great value, but beware, the Windows 7 may not be installed correctly. I had to have Microsoft completely re-download the Windows 7 and additional drivers just so I could hook a printer to this unit. I tried an HP printer, thought that it was the problem, then tried a Canon. Come to find out it was the Operating Systems that was messed up.

Otherwise, a great computer.

I love everything about the computer. The only reason it lost a star on the overall rating is due to it's battery life. I upgraded from older Dell laptop that got the exact same battery life. I figured that the battery would last a little longer. But besides that its great for gaming and anything else u can throw at it. Awesome laptop!!!

Great computer except for battery life.

We purchased this computer thinking it was a good deal. It was only used for 30 days before it crashed due to a faulty hard drive. Acer informed us that they would only fix it if we paid for the repair. Not only that they were very rude, they also informed us that they were not responsible for broken computers; they see it all the time and it must be our fault. This computer was very lightly used, well cared for, and had not been dropped or had anything else happen to it that would cause damage to the hard drive. The rude support people on the phone could barely speak english but got the point across that unless we paid them they would not stand behind their product. The supervisor at Acer was even less helpful and twice as rude. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! Until last year we owned a store and dealt with HP, Compact, and Toshiba. All have better product, and much, much better support. We now have a Mac and could not be more happy. Hope this review helps in your decision. ACER BUYERS BEWARE.
