I like the look and feel of this ACER laptop. I have had a number of laptops. Mostly from HP and all have been the 15.6 inch size. I felt the 17 inch models were too large to lug around and I don't watch movies on the computer, so no need for a super large screen. I felt the 15.6 inch were just right. Now I like the 14 inch ACER for general usage and it feels like the right size to lug around. Make sure to use the utility built into Windows 10 to make a backup boot USB device. This is invaluable should the computer mess up during an update, where you cannot boot... OR, heaven forbid the hard drive gets flaky... without this USB boot disk you make you will have to go to a computer shop to get anything done. The instructions never mention it, but seasoned Windows users know that making a boot disk has to be done with any new Windows machine. Downsides… no CD drive, tiny AC plug-in port, which can get damaged easily, ( ask me how I know this... I have yanked a few cords in the past ) no SD card slot, which makes it more difficult to deal with data transfers… photos, etc. If you have hi-speed access all the time this is not a problem… I don't. Upsides… fast boot, long battery life, , 3 USB ports and BLU-tooth and a an HDMI port, does anything you would normally want to do with a very lightweight laptop. Overall a very capable laptop computer with a comfortable weight and size.

This laptop is really nice

The quality of this laptop depends on what you plan to do with it. Looking for something for graphic design and intense gaming? This might not be the model for you. Netflix, online shopping, watching Youtube videos, photos, running Microsoft Office and Quickbooks? Yeah, this is for you. The sound is great but it seems like the speakers are poorly located. I don't understand why they would be on the underside of the laptop where they are going to automatically muffled. The cooling fan isn't noisy. So far I just the laptop while it was literally on my laptop and it hasn't overheated. Not having its own number pad on the keyboard is a bit awkward for me but I suppose that is personal preference. You just give that up when you get a narrower laptop. What you gain is lightweight, portability. I love that I can fit it into my purse and go, I don't need to Sherpa this thing around. Though the trade off there is that it is little on the flimsy/plasticky side, only the top shell is aluminum. I have a small ding in the top already. No, the keyboard is not backlit and I don't find it necessary. The biggest selling point is the quality of screen. The quality of the display is outstanding. I'd rather watch Netflix on this than my TV. There isn't too much in the way of preinstalled bloatware. I didn't have to wait days for Windows 10 to update. All in all, I'd say this one is a winner.

Really impressive!

The Acer Aspire notebook is light, powerful, and the screen is surprisingly large. It fully charged in just a couple of hours, with about an 8 hour run time listed. After a somewhat lengthy Windows 10 set up, I started playing music. It was surprisingly good! I mean, it's not a high fidelity stereo...but really good sound from such small speakers! It is very fast, and everything is crystal clear...HD sight and sound. I also played my son's games with no problems at all. And, for me, there's Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I am really happy with this notebook and would recommend it to anyone.

Great laptop!

I received the Acer Aspire laptop for free as part of the Sparks reviewer program in exchange for my honest review. Acer has always been a name we trust in my household. Growing up we used Acer computers in my school and I personally have owned an Acer. When the laptop came available I knew I needed to jump on it. It's lightweight with a sleek modern look. It has a 14" full high definition screen, 8GB. Windows 10 comes pre-installed which is great! Upon opening and starting up Cortana is there to walk you through the process of getting your laptop set up and ready to use. I found this to be very helpful as it can sometimes be a stressful process. Everything has ran beautifully so far and it's definitely a product I can recommend.

Awesome computer

Awesome computer. Very lightweight. Powerful and great graphics. Easy to set up. My ONLY concern: the network cable slot has a hinge... so it gets caught sometimes. hope it doesn't break. Other than that - this computer is great. I'm not a gamer, but I multi-task and this keeps up with me!

Love it, would highly recommend.

Aspire 5 review

I was excited to receive the Acer Aspire 5 laptop with full HD 14" display featuring an 8th generation Intel Core i7 with 8GB DDR4 and 512GB SSD running Windows 10 Home operating system.

It came well packaged with upgrade options included. I noticed it had a small scratch on the top near the emblem, but that's not a worry for me.

It is my first time working with Windows 10, so I was very grateful to have Cortana's help and my friend's when Cortana was silent.

Right off I noticed an increase in speed and loved the crisp and clear display. I can create various backgrounds using my photos. The graphics are vivid!

The sound is good for a laptop and it has quite a bit of volume. I don't mind the keyboard, however I would prefer if the keys were raised more to make it easier to type.

I miss having a dvd drive. It would be great for music, movies, presentations and such. I'm surprised that cd/dvd drives are no longer included as an option.

I find the track pad very responsive, almost too sensitive at times. I have no trouble shifting from one window to another or using multiple windows at the same time.

I mostly use the laptop to play games, read books and do email. It seems to do it all. I would definitely recommend this to others for ease of use, graphics, and enjoyment.

Slim & sleek design

Kudos to Acer for this Aspire5 8 Gen laptop. The graphics are so bright with HIGH detail in text, pictures. The outer design is slim and sleek, so light weight to be able to take anywhere. I'm not crazy about not having a mouse but the finger sliding movements are quick and responsive. I prefer a keyboard with a numerical pad on the right, which this doesn't have, but not a deal breaker considering all the positives of slim, lightweight, awesome graphics, and super FAST processing.

It is an ok laptop.

This is my first Acer laptop. The top shell is aluminum. Design is pretty thin and slick. It has 3 USB ports, and no DVD ports. Which I'm guessing nowadays is a pretty normal thing, as most of the laptops nowadays don't have one. The size is kinda small, but it's good enough to take on the go with you anywhere. I was really surprised to see that it doesn't have a touchscreen, would be nice to have a touchscreen. The resolution is good, HD1080. The memory storage could be larger that 8GB too. This laptop has a built in web camera which is always a plus. The speakers are on the weak side. The speeds are great though, fast browsing any time. The set up of Microsoft 10 is pretty easy and simple with an assistance of Cortana. Overall if I had to buy it for my job I probably wouldn't. This laptop is great for someone that is in high school or just older folks that just like to browse on the web.

Good rig for home office and social media gurus.

This computer lost a star because it is a Windows operating system and it's on a solid state drive, so it is not able to be partitioned to allow a Linux system to be added. Other than that, this is a great system. With 8GB memory, it is super fast and can handle most computing tasks the average person needs. It runs Adobe Suite (not included), Office and Cricut Design Space all flawlessly, all at the same time, and with no glitches. My husband has run virtual machines thru it to do artificial intelligence and Python coding.

It is a super powerful machine. It's only flaw is the Solid State Hard drive. While these are cheaper and usually smaller, they limit the ability to do some higher level functions in the computer world. But, if you want a powerful workhorse for home computing and home office, this is for you. For blogging, vlogging, and social media empires, this is a good rig for you. This is a good rig.

Acer Aspire Labtop

Just recently used this Acer Aspire Laptop, I must say the set up was pretty easy not to mention all of the apps that it comes with such as windows and windows home. This sleek looking laptop is quality considering you really don't hear much about Acer products. I would recommend this Acer Aspire due to the quality and sleek look.
