A Good Buy for a Good Netbook Computer

I bought this Acer Netbook for my wife to use instead of having to haul her much larger and heavier laptop into the livingroom. It turned out to be an excellent buy, as the same netbook sells for much more elsewhere. It is quick for only having 1 Gb of RAM (recommend adding a 2 Gb stick for faster performance). The 320 Gb hard drive ia a good addition and will allow storage of pretty much anything you may want to install on the Netbook. If you want a full version of Windows 7 you can purchase the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium for around $25 that will only work to upgrade from the Windows Starter edition. Acer make good products that have cool features. Check this Netbook out. You won't be disappointed.

Pretty good buy

Overall it works great, very portable, easy to use. Generous battery life, which is one of the reasons I chose this netbook based on reviews over the others available. I'd say it lasts around 6 hours. Honestly my biggest complaint is that it is very SLOW. I mean you get what you pay for I suppose, I'm not saying I didn't get my money worth, but it really is... VERY slow. You may want to get it and then invest in upgrading the RAM, which is what I'm planning on doing sometime in the next couple months. It actually runs pretty well if you only have a single window open, etc. but it takes a while to process if you try to have 2 things open at once or install updates or anything. Again, for the price, I really shouldn't complain at all, I just think it should be made clear what you're thinking about buying. I mainly got this to bring with me to class and take notes on, and for that, it works very nicely. But the most process-consuming activity I've done on mine is browse the web, and it was lagging pretty good. So yeah. I recommend getting more RAM. Oh and while I'm at this, you may want to Google the details of "Windows 7 Starter" which I didn't realize is actually a lesser version of Windows 7. Not a big deal, just some features missing, and again it's just something you should be aware of and see if that's going to be a problem for you before buying this. Now that I'm done complaining, I'll just add on that overall it's sleek, it's small, it runs quietly, has good battery life, and realistically it's a very good buy. I just focus on the negative. That's the stuff you're worried you're going to find after you buy it, right?

Great little Netbook!

I use this a lot on the go, and it is so light and easy to carry. The battery lasts a long time, and the screen is so bright I can use it direct sunlight. I had to use a usb dvd drive to install software but not having a dvd drive makes it so much smaller and lighter. The built in web cam works great on Skype. I like everything about this computer, and I can't believe it was only like $230.00

Great portability

We purchased this netbook for its size (portability) in a Windows based product. It was easy to quickly apply the Norton software we already owned and uninstall the preloaded products. The only draw back is that there is some lag (it is a little slow when compared to our usual desktop and laptop computers and does not perform well with multiple open windows). A little patience, though, is worth it for the portability. Yes, the keyboard is small, but that is what we expected. Overall, for the basic portable functions we were seeking, this was a good buy.

It does the job!

You get what you pay for. It does exactly what it is supposed to do for the price. I like it a lot but all I was looking for was a basic, yet small, laptop. I am thrilled that I saved myself a lot of money by going this route.

the best lil thing

I love it so I bought 2. One for my son and one for my husband, both very on the go guys and they can take em with if they want. LONG battery life and sturdy. 5 stars from here
I purchased this for my mother in law for the sole purpose of email and skype. She is in her 70's and never really used a computer. She loves this computer. She is able to email and skype with her children in different states anytime she wants now. Been using for over a week and not one issue with this laptop so far.

perfect for my kids

I got it for my elementary age kids to do all their school work/learning games and to skype with out of town family. It is perfect for them! Only thing is they cannot watch a dvd but that's ok, we have tv's for that.
Actually smaller than it look on website, so far works well. But no microsoft office installed

Great laptop for the price

Light weight and nice color easy to travel with
