Able Planet NC500SC Sound Clarity Active Noise Canceling Headphones (Black)

Around the Ear Active Noise Canceling Headphones with Award-Winning LINX AUDIO, a Hear the Difference technology

Linx Audio Technology

Although the speaker components differ, all three headphones share Able Planet's patented Linx Audio technology. Originally developed for a new generation of top-of-the-line hearing aids, Linx Audio technology alters the audio signal to increase the intensity of higher-frequency harmonics. This makes it easier to hear words, music, and sounds in the higher frequencies where clarity is often lost, while also ensuring that speech and other high-frequency sounds are not smothered by bass tracks. Able Planet compares the results to the difference between hearing a "C" note on a piano as opposed to a "C" chord. The "C" chord, which sounds richer and more complex, demonstrates the impact of adding harmonics to the audio signal.

Awesome Sound
These headphones are truly awesome. The noise cancellation drains out any noise making it great to use on airplanes or in noisy public areas. Its very comfortable and the sound performance is awesome. I highly recommend this product.

Get an Audio Technica
Pros: Sound quality Cons: Sound artifacts, uncomfortable Other thoughts: A friend of mine has an Audio Technica ATH-ANC7b and I compared them side by side. I regret I didn't buy an Audio Technica which is 30% cheaper and A LOT more comfortable. The Able Planet's speaker presses against the tip of the ear, whereas the Audio Technica has quite a lot of room for the ears. The noise cancellation effectiveness is about the same in both of them. The audio quality is a little bit better on the Able Planet's then the Audio Technica's (a little bit more spatiality, tighter bass and clearer trebles), but the price and the comfort aren't worth it. When you're in a silent room you can hear a small hiss in the background if you plug it to some equipment connected to the power line (a charging laptop, a desktop computer), but it's almost gone in battery-powered devices which are not charging (iPods, laptops on battery). In the Audio Technica's you only use one battery. The Able Planet's backup battery compartment has no use because no battery fits in there. I wish it didn't let the voice pass through though, I wanted something to block out all the external noise so I can study in the silence, but I guess no product does that.

Great headphones

I purchased the NC500SC Noise Canceling Headphones to wear while flying. They worked great! My music sounds great with these headphones and the noise conceling button amplifyed the music sound, while making the airplane engine's sounds decreased to a whisper.

Headphone purchase

I bought these headphones about a month ago after considering Bose. These were considerably less and I have to say I'm extremely pleased. I've been on two business trips, and they've been a lifesaver. The sound quality is unbelievable and I love the in line volume control. Would highly recommend.

AMAZING

Pros: I didn't want to spend a fortunate for good headphones as I wasn't sure there really was a difference. Oh my, these are amazing. The sounds is just as good as the BOSE ones that I looked at Best Buy. So worth the money! Love the way they fold up for storage too. Cons: None

My favorite gift for teens

I loved mine because they were so comfortable, and they have superior sound. Great gift. I have given several as gifts this year with great feedback from friends. Highly recommend.

Able Planet Sound Clarity Noise Canceling

Absolutely wonderful. At about one-third the price of equivalent Bose, these are better built since the Bose are prone to breaking and the sound is nearly perfect

Able Planet Sound Clarity Active Noise Canceling Headphones

Pros: Headphones come with carrying case and extra plugs needed. I used this on 4 10 hour air flights on a recent round trip journey. Headphones worked well, and reduced most of the air line and passenger noise. Came with extra plug ends to fit various headphone plug ins on flights. Cons: Had to wear for 2 consecutive long flights each way of trip, did note some pressure and discomfort toward end of flights. Other thoughts: Good set of headphones!

Not acceptable

I bought these to replace a pair of noise cancelling headphones I used often. These are very poor quality; they are inefficient and unacceptable. I returned them for a credit on my account. I would not recommend them.

1-1 of 1 questions

1. I too had this very question and couldn't find an answer anywhere. During my search for an answer, I saw that you had the same question, so when I got the answer I wanted to be sure to share it with you... So fear not young warrior... Basically, the Sound Clarity has slightly different speakers and more of an emphasis on bass than the True Fidelity. I bought the true fidelity and just ordered the sound clarity and will be able to see for myself. I'll return whichever one I don't like... The full answer to the question is as follows: "As the mid-level model in Able Planet's noise-canceling line, the speaker components in the Sound Clarity headphones are slightly less sophisticated than those in the Clear Harmony model but slightly more advanced than in the True Fidelity phones. As a result, they're a good choice for consumers who don't want to spend a ton of money on headphones but still want rich clarity and elite noise-reducing performance. The Clear Harmony phones, by contrast, reproduce the most bass of the three, making them ideal for audiophiles who value a robust low-frequency performance and aren't intimidated by the higher price tag. Price-sensitive listeners or people with hearing aids, meanwhile, will likely find the True Fidelity headphones more to their liking. Not only does the True Fidelity model cost less, but it also emphasizes the upper and mid-range frequencies more than the other two, helping hard-of-hearing listeners better enjoy the full audio spectrum while they listen to music or news radio.
