Great choice if you check the price
This is fast, light, beautiful, thin. The screen is great and the hinges are sturdy. The only down is the keyboard. Although it's great to have leds, it´s kind of slipery if you type a lot, and I don't like where the home/end/pgup/pgdown keys are placed. Bought a 8GB RAM module and DIY inserted, now total 12GB max RAM. I bought at U$414, but Walmart increased the price to U$499 in a few weeks. For U$499 I wouldn't have bought it for a I3-8130U/4GB/128GB SSD setup.
Great device for the price!
I just wanted to add onto the earlier review stating "Buyer Beware, Windows 10 in "S Mode""... while this may be accurate, you can switch out of S mode completely free at any time. I'm not sure if I can post links to other websites (https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/upgrade-from-windows-10-s) but it's easy enough to google how to do it. The process is simple and pain-free, not requiring a reinstall of the operating system. Other than that, the ram and the hard drive are upgradable, which is getting difficult to find these days. For that alone it's a great buy.
Pros outweigh cons
Pros: Good screen. Good performance even with 4Gig of RAM and Win10. Great battery life. Cons: I don't love the keyboard. The trackpad sometimes becomes less sensitive. No ethernet plug (WiFi only). Lastly I was hoping it would be lighter (Perhaps unreasonably :)) Overall I'm pleased with the purchase, at $400 it's a good buy
No fingerprint reader, No aluminum chassis,
The lcd lid the asus logo rest on is aluminum, that's it. The base of the laptop is actually plastic. There is no brushed aluminum anywhere! The hinges are covered in plastic. There is no fingerprint reader on the touchpad like in the pictures. The webcam is lousy, and its placement at the bottom of the screen does not make complete sense. What it does have is the latest intel i3 processor, 4 gigs of DDR4 ram, a modest amount of storage, led keyboard and a gorgeous display with excellent viewing angles. Which is great for tablet mode. There are some significant errors in the description of this model laptop.
Buyer Beware, Windows 10 in "S Mode"
Before buying this, understand that S mode is limited and isn't full windows 10. You will not be able to run Google Chrome for example unless you pay for a full windows 10 license which is $119 for home, $199 for office/pro. Otherwise its a good computer for the price as some may be okay with what "S mode" offers
Two USB ports stopped working after three months. Everything else works OK besides being a little slow
My touchcreen just get broken
I bought this model less than a year ago. Just a moment ago I was closing my laptop as usual and I heard the noise of something breaking so I stopped and when I saw what was happening ... it was the screen of my broken laptop. Asus hardware is crap.
Not as promised/described
I was very excited to purchase this laptop, it seemed to have decent specs, nice screen and design, long battery life and extra features like fingerprint sensor. When I got the laptop, however, I was pretty disappointed as it doesn't have fingerprint sensor, the battery lasted about 4-5 hours, and i have constant issue with the trackpad (registers touch but doesn't move cursor on the screen). Overall, doesn't match the description and doesn't perform well.
