I like that it has a finger print security feature.. Designed for only the user's fingerprint for advanced security.. It has enough memory for most windows app game's.. The only thing that need's updating down the road when warranty expirer's is the 204 pin DDR 4 Memory to 12 Gb Or 16 GB..
Iâve had this laptop for over a month and itâs AWESOME. It delivers an excellent performance even though it has 4gb of ram built in (which you can expand). It features a crisp 1080p display, fingerprint sensor that works fine and an AMD A12 chip, which is catalogued as a mid-range processor. Also, it has a sleek design making it look like a more expensive laptop. Itâs also really lightweight. However, this laptop has the wifi drop issue, but with help of a FAQ it can be solved. Likewise, it has 128gb of storage SSD which is not much but it can be expanded too. If youâre looking to spend less than 300$ on a laptop for academic purposes, this is the best option.
For the $250 I paid for it, this is a great laptop. Sure, there are faster and more capable units out there, but I'm not aware of one that has a (pretty good) 1080p screen, a 128GB SSD and fingerprint sensor and doesn't cost A LOT more. Yes, the 4 GB memory is not too much, although for basic tasks like web browsing, word processing, checking email and so on, this will work just fine in stock form. You will certainly not play more demanding games on it, but that's not the point either. The 4 GB memory is easily doubled for cheap. Opening the case is a bit tedious, but it can be done by pretty much anyone. There are videos on YouTube showing it how. Get another 4 GB memory module to pair with the existing one and it will help to boost performance somewhat in dual channel mode. Look for product B07HJB2KSR on Amazon, this is what my laptop came with. I paid $21.50 for it. The processor is fine for the duty I described, and if you need more storage space, you can easily add another regular SSD in the empty caddy, since it comes with an M.2 boot drive. The fan comes on a little more than I like, but if this bothers you, there are (free) programs available that can control the fan and keep things more quiet. A lot of people complain about wifi issues. I had none of those, although my first thing was to get everything updated with the latest drivers from Asus, including the network adapter. Look here: https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/F510QA/HelpDesk_Download/ I also disabled the "turn off this device to save power" setting for the wifi adapter in the Device Manager. No disconnected network connection for me. For those who complain about this being in Windows "S" mode - come on, it only takes a few minutes to get the corresponding app from the Windows store and turn it into Windows 10 Home. If you cannot manage that, then maybe you are better off staying in S mode for the added security, and avoid installing unverified programs. I wish the keyboard had backlight, it would help a lot - but other than that, it is difficult to find a better deal right now than this.
Fast processor, quality build, SSD, reputable vendor, FHD display. No problems WHATSOEVER with Wifi. Would rate a five star if keyboard were lit, screen were touchscreen and battery lasted a little longer. Adding memory and extra 2.5drive took too long; about 35 minutes. And didn't know if disassembling the PC would void warranty. But I bought two of these for me and the mrs. on no-tax back to school weekend.
Its decent. the screen is a bit dim, but you get a FHD display so thats nice. lacking with its 4gb Ram and 128 gb storage space. Fingertip sensor is great, The processor is a year or so outdated. if there is a pentium gold or i3 variant, get that version instead. It is a bit harder to upgrade ram due to the different sizes of screws and is hard to open. If you are purchasing this unit, please upgrade to 8 gb of ram or more to get the best out of this A12 processor. No gaming on this 4gb ram.
I saw all the reviews about rolling back the realtek driver to 2023, and I decided that for the price for the great features, I could do that. I did that, and wifi seems to work ok now. I am dissapointed that the function keys cannot be defaulted to multimedia, and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it. I have to hold "fn" to change the volume and brightness??? Come on. But for a 128 SSD, 1080p 15.6 screen, and quad core, great price.
I purchased this laptop to replace my Macbook that is no longer working. I was excited to use it the minute I recieved it which was earlier today. Sadly, I am very disappointed in this product. This computer is a piece of crap, I'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy a new Macbook. The internet connection constantly drops, I read the reviews and didnt think it would happen to me but yeah, I cant keep a solid internet connection for no longer than 10 mins maybe even less and then I have to restart my computer to get it back running, not fun. My Xbox One and my Celphone never had a internet connection issue at home but this brand new laptop does??? SMFH. I just don't understand it and it's very frustrating as it keeps interrupting my work flow. Also, there's no backlight on the keyboard so if your in a dark room, it's nearly impossible to see the keyboard and what keys your typing on. The sound coming out of the speakers are low, I have to use headphones some times to hear when I'm web surfing. The keys do not function properly and much more issues. This is only Day 1 of having this computer, I know I'll probably run into more issues soon but I'm not trying to find out BUYER BEWARE!
This computer comes with Windows 10s installed. Windows 10s is Microsoft's version of a Chromebook, you can only install programs from the Microsoft store. You can only set this up using a Microsoft account. Not cool Microsoft. Have to wipe drive and install Windows 10 home on this. :(
I bought this having read the reviews about the wifi issue but figured that I would follow the directions ASUS gave in previous reviews. Learn from my mistake, it is not worth it. I gave it a go and the wifi failed within the first 10 minutes. I followed the directions and uninstalled the wireless driver and restarted the laptop. Wifi then worked again for a couple of minutes and then went out again. I repeated the process and got the same result. I called ASUS tech support and they said I would need to send it in for servicing. Very frustrating. Just wasted several hours dealing with this mess. I recommend to just buy a different laptop.
