The only thing I don't absolutely love is the graphics, they could be better, but I got this on sell and it came with a game so that was pretty good. This has helped my four year old recognize his letters and done wonders for his coordination. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. It's a great investment.

My husband and I bought it for our 2 yr old son for Christmas '08. He loves it and plays with it everyday, and everyday he learns more. After a few days of having it we went to buy the adapter because the game was always on and drained bateries like nothing. A word of advice about the adapter though, don't leave it plugged in when not in use. We did that and had to return the systen because it seemed to have fried. Unfort, everywhere is sold out of it and we haven't gotten a new one yet. But our son asks for it everyday and misses playing it. I still recommend the product, but buy the adapter and don't leave it plugged when not in use.

This V-Motion is exactly what my grandson loves. It is a beautiful color and is not big and bulky. It arrived in a timely manner and in great shape. Any little kid would love this machine. And I got a terrific price because I serfed the net looking for the best deal on this machine and WalMart had it.

Vtech over Leapster
8/9/2009

We tried the Leapster brand similar products and the graphics on Leapster were horrible - we returned that system and got the original Vsmile, we also have the Vpockets (great for car trips and waiting rooms), and have upgraded last Christmas to the Vmotion system. Santa brought mom a Wii so the kids like that they have a "kid-wii" as they call it. :) I like that the original Vsmile games play on this system (just have to use joystick, not motion control) as well as the plug and play accessories like the Art Studio. We have (separately purchased) a wall adapter that interchanges between all the Vsmile and Vmotion products. NO problems with it not powering on... never had a problem with ANY of our Vtech products. If your child is rough with it - you might have issues but we have our system in a kid-friendly area where they are not having to pick up or move the system - they can easily change games - my 4 yr olds took all over a day to figure out how to make it work (mom doesn't have to come to the rescue every five minutes to change games). Something to keep in mind: If you introduce your child to something like a Gameboy, DS or PSP, you can expect for them to grow bored with this - but I prefer for my children to get something out of video game play so they are perfectly content with their systems. NOTE - use only QUALITY batteries in these systems - even if you use a wall adapter - we use Duracell - I have heard a lot of people go cheap on batteries or forgo them when using the wall plug and have had problems - but we have always kept batteries in and never have experienced any problems.

I really do not like the fact that the system is battery-operated. you can buy the AC adapter so that you can plug it in, but it comes separately (which is just stupid). It's not clear when you buy it that you have to have a separate adapter.

Got a lemon???

I am going to preface this by saying , Hopefully I got a lemon. I ordered this to replace an older v-smile unit from about 4 years ago. I got it at Christmas time and I will say the price was attractive and the shipping was very quick. When we set it up it went thru 4 sets of batteries in 24 hours and that was with the power cord attached. It would not run with just the power cord. We took it back to the store where they gave us a hard time because the price I paid on line was cheaper and they wanted us to pay more for an even exchange. They did in exchange it in the end. The new unit works fine, with just the power cord. All in all, not a great experiance. --The rating I gave are based on the original purchase, our second unit would get 3 stars-- based on the fact that my 4 yro twins get frustrated with the contolers as there is no clearly marked up or down. They attempt to play and things are "off" only to find the controler is upside down or both set to the same player. Often requires adult intervention.

Wow...my 4 yr old gets to play like her older siblings that have a Wii. I upgraded from a regular Vsmile that my oldest played with and can see that the games are the same but wireless and with motion! This was her birthday present and can't stop playing. I'm excited because it still has the educational value I saw in the first Vsmile. I highly recommend this!

Great learning tool; poorly built.

Well, I have a long history with the V.Smile! My son first had one when he was 3, he is now 7. He learned a lot from the games, including how to spell his name. My son and daughter are on their 4th V.Smile. (2nd V.Motion) The first console lasted about 3 months with very minimal use and the second lasted about 7 months with moderate use. (Maybe 2-3 times per week) AND the 3rd, which was a Christmas present lasted 2 days. 1 hour one day and 30 min. the next day. The kids are very good with their toys and are not allowed to switch games by themselves. The console is also in the living room so that we can monitor sharing time between the two kids! So, I know that it is just a very poorly made product. This last V.Motion has been played with for 4 days now and so far so good. BUT, I don't expect it to last too long. Like I said, this is a wonderful learning device, but unfortunately, just too poorly built. I would recommend this product, BUT with very fair warning.

I bought this for my 5 yr. old, he LOVES it, as do my 11 and 13 yr. old. It gets them away from the PS3 & XBOX 360 so they can help my little one learn something other than usless mumbo jumbo from the other gaming systems! GREAT GAME, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Play and learn at the same time, what could be better!!! Besides MORE GAMES...come on guys pick up the slack!!!

My 4yr old daughter (3 at the time) recieved this as a Christmas gift in 2008. She had been begging for it the past few months and was so excited to play it! She was playing it all the time and getting very good at it. She was proud to be playing video games like a "big girl" and learning her letters/numbers even quicker. But one day after 4mos of use it just stopped working. I went to the site and found ways to reset it, I followed the directions and it went back to working perfect. My daughter was elated for it to be working again. But then not two weeks later it stopped working again. I tried resetting it multiple times but still nothing. My daughter is extremly sad and I hate that she has lost a toy that she so loved. I to will be getting her a leapster now since my nephew has one and has NO problems with it. Coincidentally my nephews vsmile stopped working one day for no reason as well. NOT worth the money and aggravation.
