HP Silver Iridium A12 15-cd040wm 15.6? Laptop, Touchscreen, Windows 10 Home, AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P, 12GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive

Bought the Hp Siver iridium A12 to replace a dell inspiron 15 N5050 that was slowly but surely dying. the specs impressed me and the price for the specs impressed me more. According to technical reviews the ATI A12 processor is comparable to some mobile Core i5 processors. C.P.U. boss.com agrees as neither the mobile i5 or the ati A12 consistently outscore each other in benchmark tests. they run fairly close. add the 12 gigs of ram and a touch screen and its a good deal add a basic but decent onboard gpu in the Radeon R7 and you have a pretty powerful laptop that is capable of gaming to an extent. I brought mine home and ran the necessary updates. (seems essential to update out of the box these days) and it fires off hard and fast. I have read both of the other reviews and was a little nervous about what I would find when I turned mine on. with one positive and one negative experience your odds run 50/50. once it was properly updated and running (took less than an hour) I decided to try out the gaming capabilities of this unit. it will play diablo 3 rise of the necromancer fairly well. there's no audio or video glitches, even managed to join a network game briefly before I had to go to work. the system itself has striking asthetics. It is cool to look at. I am a huge fan of the sound bar that sits at the top of the keyboard, and yes it has a software based equalizer that while not phenomenal, is impressive, The screen handles multiple angles fairly well. Glare can become an issue if there is bright light (i.e. sunlight) right behind you or right at the corners. the build looks aluminum but feels like plastic. but it doesn't feel like cheap low end plastic. While I wouldn't throw the laptop on the floor, it does feel like it would survive the bumps and jostles that come with portability. the keyboard I'm not super thrilled with but it isn't bad just not my personal preference, and I do wish the number lock was lit. The keyboard itself is not backlit but that is not an issue for me. Both the track pad and the touch screen are fit and responsive. The track pad has a little bit of texture to it, which is not to some peoples liking but I find it gives me personally more control over mouse and scroll gesture. I have not yet tested this model on serious gaming, but there are youtube videos of people playing Battlefield 1 on medium settings so there is hope. In a world where laptops are devided by a thick black line of gaming laptop, and underperforming power sipping office devices, this device comes as a breath of fresh air, and a welcome gray area.

has a decent processor and video GPU can run most games on medium settings overall really good laptop for the price the only complaint is the pre-installed McAfee which is garbage just uninstall it
