I purchased this for my Chinese mother (87) who was damaging my other cookware with high heat on a gas range (burnt exteriors, destroyed nonstick coating, melted handles, left empty on flame...). This looks like it can take the heat - it doesn't matter how many times I tell her not to use the highest setting... If she burns the nonstick coating out of this, I'll probably get her a steel wok - at least the handle won't melt.
