Great for keeping swallows away. I tried for 2 years, using everything you can imagine to keep swallows from making nest on my front porch. I saw this owl and give it a go. I laughed at first because of it being made of plastic, it would never work. It did!!

Amazingly Effective!

For the past six years, we've tried everything to keep barn swallows from nesting in our front entryway and making an awful mess of the porch, not to mention swooping at unsuspecting visitors. This spring when we saw the barn swallows starting to arrive, we placed this owl in one of the upper corners. Haven't seen a single barn swallow since. A previous reviewer mentioned it's not effective with crows and that's true - we saw a crow hopping along right under him looking for seeds, totally undeterred.

The owl did its job after a little patience. The first day the owl was out, the birds continued building over its head. As I began moving the owl around every day, the birds eventually abandoned their efforts! Only took about 2-3 days. I am a bird lover but I do not want messy nests at my front door.
