Spiritual Dancer: Reflections of a Joyous Adventure, (Paperback)

So, why would anyone want to read about my life's spiritual journey over these past 60 years or so? What am I getting out of this as the author even!? I love reading autobiographies and biographies because through someone's else's joys, pains, successes, failures, bumps in the road, or screaming adventures, I always walk away with a kernel of wisdom that I can apply to my own life. I have been writing ever since I learned to write. I now have volumes of notebooks that I, from time to time, dust off and immerse myself in. I relive whatever I was going through and can remember it as if it were yesterday. It can be fun, interesting, and sometimes painful. I wrote about the science experiments with friends, laughing at how one experiment actually blew up... their garage. (Well, it wasn't so funny at the time!) Beyond the sophomoric memories are drawings made, notes from my dreams, and ideas for screenplays. I found these diaries to be a wonderful place to store my ideas that used to clutter my brain. I found keeping notes in a diary helped relieve my stress and increase my creativity.No, this book is not about convincing you to keep a diary but to convey that it was and is the warehouse of my life. I matured (although, some may argue that point) over my lifetime. From my notes I see when I had a spiritual awakening of sorts. Born into a Baptist family, I couldn't quite get into step with all that was taught. I questioned everything. To the dismay of my parents and teachers, I challenged "the truths". (That usually ended in a whipping!) Not discouraged, I turned to the library and bookstores, and I read about other religions and philosophies. That was a turning point in my life... my spiritual awakening! From my teacher, O.C. Smith, I began to learn to un-learn what I had been taught and that began my "spiritual dance".In this book Spiritual Dancer, I share detailed stories, exercises, and methods that I used and found to be productive in my life. This book is really directed toward you who are still trying to find your way, to find your path through life. Here, I write about my discovery, my path leading to God. I include incidents that molded my life. I write not only about philosophies but also my life experiences to help reinforce the information I try to convey. But one important point I want to make is that what worked for me may not work for you. However, you may find your kernel that may help you. You have to discover your own dance. I learned to meditate, and I discuss various ways to meditate. I learned to free myself from the philosophies from childhood that I could not accept. My desire in sharing this with you is that it will help you to find your own way.
