Form before function.

This is a really nice looking product, and it's exactly the style I wanted. The product came packed protected enough for FedEx to not have damaged the contents, and it went together quite easily. The veneer is ok, I can tell it's just paper printed to look like wood, and not an actual wood veneer, but to the casual eye and once it has things on it it should be fine. The construction is ok, the legs are pressboard, not wood, so we will see about longevity, but it's not the super cheap crumbly pressboard, it's almost like an MDF, which tends to hold up nicer than the chipboard-esqe norm for inexpensive furniture. Now to the actual downside. Things that don't fit inside the cubbies without making the sliding doors completely inoperable: Xbox one, PS4, Denon 7.1 receiver, Samsung DVD/VHS combo unit, and Xbox 360. The useable depth of the interior space is 11 5/8 inches, and I imagine anything else modern will not fit in this outdated design. We wanted a bigger console to tidy up the look but ended up with one extra device on top of the TV stand than we had before with a 43" long four cubby unit. If you're a gaming or home theater household, be wary of the dimensions.
