The barrel warms up fast. It wraps around your hair and glides smoothly. The clamp don't pull any hairs! It's easy to hold. Easy to maneuver. I got the long barrel because I have long hair. I was thrilled to find it on sale, but would've purchased it either way. My daughter is using her's for the second year with zero problems. In case you're like me an read instructions as a last resort (lol), just hold the on button for a few seconds to turn it on. I assume this is a safety feature for children.
