I have had this coffeemaker for less than a year and the plastic portion of the carafe has separated from the outside of the carafe. Having done so has also broken the seal of the inner liner, causing coffee to get between the inner and outer sections. A definite design flaw.

So I bought the coffee maker back in December... So I have had if for approx 2 months and I got up this am to make a pot and I would not work. The appearance is great, love the look. Coffee pot leaks when you pour so you must pour over sink. No problems w/ the thermo cups yet those were a nice addition to the coffee pot. But the canister does not keep coffee HOT.. Comes out luke warm and gets cold real fast. I was going to return the item but as I was bagging it up I accidently dropped the pot and the handle broke off so I am sure I would not be able to replace it now so basically I am out seventy dollars. I think I will just buy a cheap one this time they seem to last longer or I can just go get my grandma's. Whatever happened to coffee pots lasting the technology on some of these items look good and all but the expensive item only lasts a few months. I need a coffee maker that will last not fall apart especially for the money you spend on them.. I will continue my search... very disappointed :(

Don't waste your money. Coffee Periodically comes out lukewarm/cold. After first month coffee started tasting skunky and had to run vinegar through pot...which needed to do every month. Which doesn't sound like a big deal but you can't have coffee that day. After you run the vinegar you have to run water through to few times to get the taste of the vinegar out. Also the carafe leaks so you have to pour over the sink. Now after my last cleaning it started flashing on and off , the program button light was flashing as well as the clock display. It would not brew my coffee...it kept shutting off. Three hours later it turned on and brewed my coffee which tasted awful. I don't think this coffee pot is for people who like to drink coffee. If mine worked I would be sitting her drinking a cup of coffee and not writing this review. My last coffee pot was the first one I bought 13 years ago and cost me less than $20 and never gave me a problem....I just wanted an upgrade. I wonder if goodwill still has my old one.

I was reading the reviews and was surprised by all the problems people are reporting. Had mine for 2 years, making travel mugs for me in the early morning and minimum of 2 pots throughout the day for my wife. Coffee pours great out of the carafe, no leaks. The lid twist on tight against a rubber seal. You push a button on the handle to pour into your cup. Very good design. Coffee taste great, stays hot in the mugs and carafe. I came here to buy a unit as a wedding gift. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to have the convenience of programable brewing to either a carafe or mug.

Coffee leaking from pot while pouring.

Several people have complained about the pot leaking coffee on countertop or stove when pouring. I found a solution. When the lid is on the pot , dont line up the pushbutton perfectly centered with pour spout. Set it just to the right of center just enough for coffee to pour. GUESS WHAT! NO MORE LEAKS!!! TRY THIS I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Best coffee maker I've ever had

Bought this coffee maker about 7 years ago and it is still going strong. great if your make a whole pot or are on the go and need only one cup which saves money over the models that are designed to make only one cup. The pot is great because it is a thermal pot which means that there is no hot plate to worry about or to burn the coffee in the pot if it sits to long. One time our power when out and so the clock didn't get reset so our morning coffee was brewed at midnight, it was still hot at 7am when we went to have it.

Mr. Coffee gets grounds in the coffee, Cuisinart Grind and Brew pause and pour feature broke quickly (and there's a really loud high-pitched beep that tells you the pot is brewed-and wakes people up). This coffeemaker, however, is the bomb. Love it for my needs. I make my tall caff separate that gives me two cups and my husband makes his decaf. Awesome. Coffee stays hot in thermal mugs and carafe; doesn't keep cooking. Absolutely no problem pouring out of carafe as referenced in some Amazon reviews. Must have redesigned it. Appearance-wise, would prefer it if there was no product label on carafe. Got it shipped to my local Walmart for free pickup. I really like this coffeemaker!

This coffee maker takes just enough time to let the flavor dissipate into the pot. The thermal pot keeps it hot for 2-3 hours with no burnt taste from a heating element. The split coffee basket lets two people have their perfect strength of brew. It's very easy to program and comes with two stainless steel travel mugs that keep it just as hot as the pot!. ( I always run hot water into my mugs before filling to maintain the temperature.) I have had units much more expensive than this one, but this is my favorite. This is my second maker, the first gave us about 3 yrs. (Not bad with our well water). I highly recommend this maker, good job Hamilton Beach!

PROS: Besides the obvious, I think the thermal carafe is great. If you read the booklet, it suggests filling the carafe with hot water before brewing - it works significantly better this way! It really makes a great cup of coffee. CONS: After about a month of use, the only complaint I have is that the travel mugs aren't really quality. The "stainless steel" is coming loose from the plastic inside. They do keep the coffee hot for a long time though.

  • A. Thank you for your question. The Thermal Stay or Go coffeemaker does not allow you to make single servings using the K-Cup. However we have a 2 way brewer model 49980 available that has a single side brewer and a 12 cup side all in one unit but it uses regular coffee grounds. Please visit our website at www.hamiltonbeach.com if you would like to view this model.
