Read the package to see if you get the short filte
Seems that a lot of people in here are buying the 4 cup filter and trying to make6 to 12 cups of coffee.. Please read the package before you complain. I have not had any problem with these filters. I did one time get the short filters. However, I was smart enough to relize it before I made foolish statements on the internet about the product when it was my own fault for not reading the package. Coffee filters are not high enough
These filters do not work well. They are not high enough, so they let grounds go over the top and the grounds go in the coffee. I purchased filters at Dollar General that are much better. I included a photo of the height difference. I love Great Value brand. Most products are excellent, but not the coffee filters

Disregard the Nay Sayers

I bought these filters mainly bc of the negative reviews here. It wasn't a major concern that I might waste a couple bucks on "horrible" paper filters, considering that I'd run out and was using napkins to filter my coffee. (Paper towels work well, too) I just couldn't believe that a paper coffee filter could be disappointing or defective. So, I bought them. The same day I was at the local Wally, I'd forgotten that I had these at our marvelous customer pickup (home of the Pickup Goddess Queen Annie!) and when I passed the appliance aisle I grabbed some Brew Rite (Rockline Industries) filters. When I realized my mistake, I decided to buy them anyway, for comparison. And how can you have too many coffee filters, right? Even though they WERE 12¢ more..... So, both these filters and the Brew Rites are identical in size. Both work fine. These filters were not flimsy or messy, nor did they tear, etc. They work just fine. I considered the motivation for people here to post a negative review, and I can't think of any. I believe them. I think they must've gotten a bad/defective batch. There's only one difference between these and the Brew Rite brand. The latter are a little stiffer. But the paper is not thicker when holding to the light. It's as if the BR's were "pressed" or starched. A subtle, but inconsequential difference. I think that if I did get a bad batch, as some have described here, I'd have just used 2 filters instead of 1. :)

Definitely a Great Value

What's to like or dislike? The absolute must for coffee makers and it comes in a big package...Great Value? Of course it is. I make coffee every day and I use these filters every day!! I would recommend them to others and I will buy again!

Good Value for coffee filters

This the only filter I use...I make 12 cups of coffee using 2 scoops and these do the trick. The coffee grinds do come close to the top but almost never overflow into the basket. These filters are a little hard to separate and get only one but I can accept that.

Do Not Recommend

Everything everyone is saying about these filters is true: Poor quality (extremely thin) and not high enough, which is the bigger problem. And, yes, I bought the filters for 8-12 cups.

1. Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, our records indicate this product: The paper used to make our filters undergoes a whitening process to make them white, but is not done with bleach containing elemental chlorine, however whitening is accomplished through the use of chlorine dioxide and oxygen compounds. Over twenty years ago the whitening process got a bad name (and seemingly continues to do so), because of the prior use of elemental chlorine which generated harmful congeners of dioxin. The pulp producing industry has since spent billions of dollars to modify the whitening chemistry and substitute the use of elemental chlorine with chlorine dioxide and oxygen compounds, which are much more environmentally friendly. This is often referred to as Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) whitening technology. The pulp that Rockline uses is routinely tested and guaranteed to contain dioxin concentrations of less than 2 parts/trillion, actually less than the background levels of dioxin that are normally found in nature.
