Its not top of the line but quite nice

I had a chance to try this Novogratz Palm Springs Split Futon out for the Spark Reviewer Program. I'll try and give you a good idea on what the product is like to help in your purchase decision. First the delivery. It comes in a pretty large box that says 100lbs. I figured it would be pretty difficult to move around but wasn't to bad as I was able to flip box over from corner to corner to get around and really didn't need a two wheeler or a second person. The box is shown in my photo and shows partially opened but that was from me. The assembly was way easier than I thought. Actually there isn't really much assembly needed as all you need to do is unbox and put the legs on. You have all the equipment which is just 10 nuts and washers. Allen wrenches are included. Takes under 1/2 hour and I got the legs mixed up. I like the appearance. The blue color looks very nice and goes with most furniture pieces. The back is easy to lift up and snap into place if you want the back at a flat level or up straight. You can here a loud click when it snaps into place. The Novogratz Futon is quite difficult to move around on carpet. I could slide it around before I put the legs on but once I had the legs on I found it very difficult to get the couch to a place that I wanted to. With two people that wouldn't be a problem. Its not real sturdy. But this isn't an $800 sofa either. So you kind of have to look at the approach that you get what you pay for. Its nice looking fairly comfortable and somewhat sturdy. Again, though its not a top of the line sofa. I've read the reviews on how uncomfortable it is. I disagree I think its not bad. I thought it was built a little too low to the ground and I have short legs but another person commented she felt it was too high. So I guess its probably ok. Actually you could always get different legs that are much higher if you feel its way to low. I think its ok but I am quite short. For a very tall person this couch would seem quite uncomfortable in my opinion. I also miss the arms on a couch. To me I like to put my legs up and lean against the arm rest. Here you don't have that option. The legs are metal and not wood. They look like wood but I feel they are much sturdier than if they were actually wood. As for sleeping on it I have no idea as I like the Futon to look and seem like a sofa. The option to use as a bed is there though. Overall, you would notice a difference between a top of the line sofa and this product. However for the price I find it to be of excellent quality and comfort. It does take up some space so check the measurements carefully before purchasing. Oh one thing I should mention is the legs are hidden inside of the Futon when you receive the item. I took the item out of the box and was wondering where the legs are. They are in a zipper pouch under the Futon. In conclusion: I think its better than what the poor reviews are saying. It looks nice, is quite comfortable, could be customizable to adjust size, and very reasonably priced with no assembly required. Good luck with your new sofa.

Nice Split Futon!

I received my Novogratz Palm Springs Split Fulton in Blue last week Friday. And I must say this Fulton is very well put together and the color in Blue is very nice, but this Fulton is not for an adult like myself who's over 6 feet. The Dimensions are 71.5W x 34D x 32H in. which is nice for the average height person. Don't get me wrong when the Fulton is in the sofa position it's very comfortable to sit on, but when it's put in the full bed position for me it's not comfortable because of the length when in the bed position. This Fulton would be nice for the average height adult or for an extra bed in a teenage or child's bedroom.

Blue Beauty

May I just say, I love this futon! A blue twill, heavy fabric. It almost looks like denim, but isn't. Took about 45 minutes, frim box to full build, and that's only because legs were screwed on, in wring direction. The tools & instructions came neatly zipped inside the bottom of the futon -- super convenient! The futon is firm, but not lumpy. Haven't slept on it yet, but as of now, I don't feel any bars or lumps. Very well made, and I love the retro look! I'm 5'7, and have plenty of head/leg room. Obviously, width is of mo concern. I'd say this one is a home run!
