A. Yes, but you still need a router to direct traffic through a gateway. I assume you only have one IP from your internet provider. That IP is your gateway.

A. yes this is giga byte switch and has huge bandwidth. so if you have morethen one computer and all are using same internet resources, if you service provider is capable to provide you enough bandwidth then you are fine with at least 4 user at a time.

A. This product will do exactly that, and will do it well! Just plug your routers output into one of the ports on the GS105 (that will be the uplink port), then you can plug your computer and Xbox into the GS105.

Yes you can hook at least four more high speed hook up. this will work as a internet splitter. so you can use xbox and desktip internet both at the same time with out any interruption. i have internet TV, desktop computer and internet phone all work at the same time on this switch. No issues so far.

A. This device will do what you want to do. Hook up your one ethernet cable to the far right hand port on the hub and then plug your computer and game console into any of the other five ports available. You can use both your computer and the game console simultaneously with no interference.

A. I am sure that it will. I have two ethernet switches. Each is used to connect the ethernet to a TV cable box and a NetFlix player. Because the xbox is NetFlix enabled, you should have no problem. Just disconnect the cable from the computer and connect it to port #5 on the switch. You will need two other patch cords to connect from any other port on the switch to the inputs of computer and the xbox.

This ethernet hub works exactly as advertised. Simple: just plug in your cable from your router or modem. Most ethernet cables are Cat 5e and will carry up to 1000 Mbs. Next, just plug in ethernet cables to devices (computers, printers, gaming modules, DVD and Blu-ray players, etc). No problem streaming two or more simultaneous feeds from Netflix. Works great!

This switch works exactly as expected! It was either get a new router, a hub, or a switch...opted for the switch because I liked that it dedicates ports to each attached unit and not share between them. Works like a charm...my PS3 generally gets two bars on Vudu if I'm lucky, my PS4 gets four constantly now!!

Replaced a former 10/100mbit Netgear hub to upgrade to gigabit network. In short, this device is unusable on my home network due to random drops between multiple computers, requiring that I restart the switch to restore connectivity to all machines. Apparently, it is incompatible with a number of network cards brands, a few of which I have in my network (2 RelTek 1gb low-end cards & 1 high-end Intel 1gb onboard on a Dell Precision). I've used it for 2 weeks and identified this device as the cause of my disappearing machines that make my network-based backups to fail. I found that certain product lines in Netgear have these same problem patterns. I've owned many Netgear products including hubs, a few unmanaged switches, and 3 business grade 16 port VPN routers. It's not for lack of trying Netgear products that I will stay away from them nor is it lack of experience as a 15yr professional software developer. I'm going to try the D-Link DGS-1008G next because it has consistently high customer reviews across many web sites. I may just need to go with a business grade HP Procurve if the low end D-Link doesn’t work.

I personally never buy Netgear, I'm a Linksys kind'of'guy. But the price on this little unit makes it work the risk. Oh and your not going to believe this. When I went to my local store to go buy this off the shelf, it was 10 bux more than what was listed online. So I went back home, made my purchase online, and used the 'Store Pick-Up' option; it saved me $10 and I didn't even have to stand in a check-out line.

Works fine out of the box. Just plug in and go. I purchased for gigabit ethernet capability but, didn't work until I found out I was using the slow cables. Replaced with Cat5e cable and was good to go.
