Hayward W3S310T2 Pro Series 30" Pool Sand Filter with 2" Top Mount Multiport Valve

Delivery and packaging was really good so we were off to a great start. Upon inspection of the tank it could be seen it was poorly finished and moulded. Lots of plastic waste floating on the top was the first thing I noticed when filling the tank, then the leak from the drain plug which was unusually hard to screw on to tighten, felt like it was cross threaded. With closer inspection it could be seen that the drain pipe was moulded at an angle, the threads were badly formed and the end of the pipe was cut at an angle. All of this was not allowing the cap to tighten up and have a flush surface for the gasket to sit against. I would have normally sent this back but delivery was interstate and my pool was going green with no filter working so I spent considerable time trimming up the threads, squaring up the end of the pipe and trimming back excessive moulding from the seams. Fortunately this allowed the cap to seal. Once the vari - flow valve was installed I noticed the infeed and return valves were angled down about 5 degrees causing the pipework to also be angled when tightened up against the control valve. The pipes should be at 90 degrees and straight as they come off the valve , not bent down at different angles. I would also recommend a centred pocket be moulded into the bottom of the tank in the centre to allow the lateral assemble and vertical pipe to remain centred when installing. As it is it flops back and forth when trying to install as it has no where to seat into so you just guess where the centre is. This filter cost over $1300 so the poor workmanship is inexcusable.
