very nice value
This sugar is great for anything you would use sugar for. Good quality, good taste. Good price. * They do not use bone char to make it white. It is minimally processed. They do not use fossil fuels in the refinery. All of the cane they use is bought from small family farms. Your not paying a much higher price due to the " naturalness " of it as you will with other brands.* I like the plastic bag it is packed in to insure you get a good quality taste and it isn't infused with outside moisture. It also has a zip lock so you can close it up after filling the sugar container you may use, or after baking amounts taken out. Also when they ship it, they add another zip lock bag I guess to ensure it is well protected. Btw.. plastic bags can be reused. ;) What more can you ask for?

Horrible after taste
This was awful with a horrible chemical after taste. I will never buy this again. Waste of money.

Great price and Eco friendly!

This is pure cane sugar. Not refined to death and still has the natural good stuff. I can't tell much difference in the taste of the bleached out white sugar and this sugar but this has to some much better for you. I'll continue to buy it as long as it's still available.

The BEST sugar!

Cheaper than refined cane sugar - tastes better and doesn't 'spike' blood sugar as much as refined. PLUS - it's pure cane sugar that's better for you....

Good value and taste

I am happy with this purchase but will continue to shop for a more 'natural', heavier grained sugar. This price can't be beat and is good for everyday use.

Sugar sweet

I suffer from hypoglycemia sugar replace cause a crash in blood sugar. This doesn't. Use this instead of processed sugar.

1. I got only one bag. But I guess for this price, one bag is good enough

2. Please DO NOT use "natural" sugars of any kind for hummingbird nectar. Brown or even brownish sugar (morena = dark). The color derives in part from iron, for which nectarivorous and frugivorous birds have a very low tolerance. Even a little extra iron over time can build up to lethal levels in the birds' bodies. Refined white sugar has had the trace iron removed to make it a more attractive product, which incidentally makes it safer for hummingbirds. Unfortunately for those of us who try to shop green, organic sugar is typically not fully refined to pure sucrose, so it's not safe. Rumors of problems at tropical feeding stations may be related to the use of lightly refined turbinado (“raw”) sugar containing iron, but these reports have yet to be substantiated. http://fieldguidetohummingbirds.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/solution-evolution-part-1/

3. i have use this sugar often and I have never seen any lack specks or anything that is not sugar sometimes it has pieces of cane since it is made of pure cane is logical that some little pieces of cane are inside other than that this is the best sugar I ever bought and I use it for my family and kids too

4. The Zulka should be fine. Maybe better than white sugar. White sugar is refined and highly concentrated. If you think of the nectar of a flower (honeysuckle perhaps) the sweet is softer. Naturally evaporated can sugar like Zulka is concentrated because is evaporates from cane juice but is not refined to further concentrate.

5. I would not feed bleach sugar to any animal. Hummers drink nectar, which is a type of raw sugar...This will be great for them! Just be sure to start with hot water to desolve it.
by IammeWhoru
6. Yes

7. Since preservatives and chemicals are bad for us they're bad for all animals too so yes, I would definitely use this to make humming bird nectar. I would say Zulka sugar would be better than refined white sugar and if it's too large just put in it a food processor or blender to get it the size you want.
by Vytania
8. it's better. no preservitiver no chemicals no additives.
by szanharris
9. You can use zulka and they love it. But they are happy with ordinary sugar. They need pure energy so I think it doesn't matter. Maybe it's a waste of good sugar, so I use the white variety.
by GixFan
10. You can use this sugar as you would any sugar. There is no fiber. It just isn't whitened to make it more pleasing to the eye. It has a lovely golden color, yet when mixed you do not see it. Since the sugar is minimally processed, it may be more pleasing due to its being a more natural sugar, with possibly a hint of a honey taste ? And you can feel better using it for the environment, knowing that bone char is not used to whiten it up. ;)

1. In tea or coffee it is very smooth and I find that it really complements the taste. I use it in Oolong.
by 60sboomer
2. It could be used.
by IammeWhoru
3. Use as you would "regular" sugar.
by 4thesky
4. You can use this sugar as you would any sugar. I think this would make a lovely kombucha tea for you, if that is what you meant. It just isn't additionally processed to make it white.

1. I have used Zulka for 4 years and never buy the white sugar. I have hummers in my yard a lot at the right times of year, and use the Zulka for the feeders. I mix it the same and haven't noticed them behaving any differently than before when i used white.
by GixFan
2. I have only ever noticed darker shade lumps in a dark brown unrefined sugar; because it is a moist sugar it sometimes clumps and forms small darker brown lumps. But this is different. I gave up on purified white sugar about four years ago and since then have only ever bought this Zulka brand. It has always been the consistent very pale beige color. I am very careful with my products of this kind and have never ever noticed any strange specks of any other color in any of the packages I have bought. If I did I would take the pack straight back for exchange. I recommend you do the same.
by GixFan
3. I noticed it to, so I looked up sugar cane, and it turns out that it is actually fresh from the sugar cane plants (It's just particles from the sugar plants themselves, nothing harmful). I have been using this sugar for almost 2 years now, and have not had any health issues with it.
