Awesome swamp cooler

Great unit, much better than expected. Really moves air, sometimes too much. I bought it for the bedroom, and it is way overkill. Better suited for a living room or outside patio. Surprisingly quiet for a large fan on low, med and high are louder obviously. As far as a swamp cooler goes, it works extremely well. I live in Texas, our humidity is somewhere in the middle. Would work much better in the desert (Arizone etc) and horribly in Georgia. Don't buy a swamp cooler in a humid state, you will be wasting your money. Low-mid humidity is much better.

Great value and cooling for the moneyh!

I did a lot of research before landing on this brand and model. We've had it nearly a month now, and couldn't be happier. We have an open living/dining/kitchen area that's probably a bit larger than 700 sq feet, and it has kept us noticeably cooler -- even when temps outside top 100. (We live in hot and arid Central Washington.) The ability to put cold packs for the water to flow over is a real plus. (It comes with two, but you can use any kind.) I also like that it will beep when the water level is getting low, albeit not really loudly, and will then automatically shut off if it runs dry. It does take a bucket brigade to fill it up, but a full load will typically last 3-4 hours. (We have not tried the hose attachment, since we're using it inside.) One tip: be careful not to accidentally activate the humidity controls. (You do so buy pushing and HOLDING the water button. (The water button MUST be activated for the swamp cooler to serve as more than a fan. That's what ensures the water is flowing over the fan/filter.) If you see numbers on the display panel, you've activated it, and it may cause the water to quit flowing over the fan if it's set too low, which greatly reduces the cooling. If it's set to 90%, however, it's not likely to turn off.) I have NOT had luck turning that function OFF. (I'd hoped pressing and holding it a second time would do so.) But have to confess I haven't consulted the user's manual! Still, a minor hiccup in what is otherwise proving to be an excellent purchase!
