    Great Outdoor Bike
Great for what I wanted it. As a Fitness Trainer I use it on trails, grass and mostly sand. The ATV of bikes. I know that there are more expensive and specialized bikes with the same concept out there, but this is a solid, easy to maintain bike and the price is right.

GREAT PRICE. CHEAP TIRES. BEAD NOT STRONG ENOUGH.
GREAT PRICE. CHEAP TIRES. BEAD NOT STRONG ENOUGH. BLOWS REAR TIRE OUT. TRIED TWO OF THEM. HAPPENED BOTH TIMES. NEEDS WIRE BEAD OR YOU WILL BE PURCHASING AFTER MARKET TIRES AT $60 A PIECE. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DROP ANOTHER $120 ON TIRES, THIS IS THE BIKE FOR YOU.

Different experience at a bargain price.

My new Red Beast Cruiser is all that I expected. It's maneuverable and quick for it's 49 pounds. Don't inflate the tires to more than about 20 psi. Mine popped off the wheel at about 28 psi. These tires are obviously not high end and the lip of the wheel is small, but some compromises are necessary to keep the overall weight and expense down. I've only got about 20 miles on my bike right now but it is a fun ride and I'm looking forward to implementing some simple improvements that will make it even more of a pleasure. And by the way, as many people have said before, expect comments wherever you go. Within the first hour of riding a lakeside trail in the Catskills, four people either stopped me or cruised by with a curious comment about those big wheels.

A very fun bike for a Great price!!!

I have had a blast on this bike so far!! I have had a few high dollar bikes in my day, and I was just looking for something fun to ride with nothing special on it. I just use it to cruise around with my 4 year old. He loves monster trucks and thinks daddy's bike it the coolest thing ever. It is super fun to ride, has HUGE possibilities for upgrades. I have switched the seat out for a more padded seat. Great bike all around for the price, no thrills, just a bunch of fun!!!

    Great bike!

Bought this bike mainly to ride with my kids around the neighborhood and the park. Great bike for flat ground riding. I changed out the rear cog for a 22 tooth, the stock 18 tooth took a lot of energy to get rolling. Rides smooth and quiet, and great for bigger riders, I'm 6'2" and 270lbs, another reason why I got it to drop some weight. This bike will turn heads and get people asking what it is due to the massive wheels, always positive comments. Glad I purchased this bike, I really enjoy it!

    $200 worth of cool

I can't ride this bike for further than a block without a thumbs up and smiles. Don't expect to climb Mount Everest, just take it easy and enjoy the fun of a 4.5 inch tire. Ape hangers add to the fun!

    1. No
    by SteadyRyder
    2. They don't make one with it. It's single only. Doesn't look simple to change out crank and rear spindle. keep in mind the RIM and tires are 4" wide so probably a special made gear/hub is needed for the rear.
    by PaullyFi
    3. Not currently.

    4. Not at this time.

    5. No. It is a singlespeed bike. You can swap out a different cog for the rear wheel yourself-- cogs go for about $10 online.
    by YesItIsIAdam
    6. Not unless you want a $2000 custom built. This is a "cruiser" only one speed....like in the "good old days". Think of it as a FAT Schwinn.
    by FatBikeRider
    7. Yes you can. They are called the Mongoose Hitch and the Mongoose Dolomite. Both come with a 7 speed cassette. WalMart sells them both for a few more dollars than this one.
    by Tirejockey
    8. Yes. Follow this link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Mongoose-Men-s-Dolomite-Navy-Blue-Red/29741123
    by Taterzz
    9. no, but you can have one build by your local bike shop.
    by YepMeAgain1981
    10. This isn't the place... yet. If you want to get more into this, the next level up is the Sun Spider. After that to get serious, look up the Surly Moonlander and 9zero7. (there are about a dozen more manufacturers of these as well.) They have speeds and lighter aluminum frames but are getting into serious cash outlay. I'm sure Mongoose will probably make one with speeds eventually if this gets to be a bigger movement.
    by z1ny
    11. The stock NO, but you can check out the Beast Modifications on the web. You can replace the stock hub to Sturmy Archer hub with your choice of speed.
    by Lucky888
    12. no,not mongoose. The local bike shop said for around 200 dollars they could get a 3 speed hub.
    by Spacecowboy420
    13. Hi CliffsSister, Thank you for your question. The Mongoose Beast is only available in a single speed.

    1. neither front or rear suspension - rigid all the way. Air down the tires for a softer ride or for mor grip. You can also buy a suspension seat post with built in spring.
    by RIPPERMAC
    2. NONE
    by MrBlimp
    3. With the tires as big as they are, you can ride with much lower pressure ( like 7psi), and it helps absorb the bumps and that, but no suspension.
    by An anonymous customer
    4. There is no suspension. This is a rigid frame. Tire PSI can very the ride feel.
    by shop246
    5. none, none,and none
    by nascarcrew
    6. Rigid frame, no rear suspension.
    by AkashasMom
    7. none, all your "suspension" is in the flex of the tires.
    by YepMeAgain1981
    8. None. But remember the tire itself functions as a suspension, especially at low inflation.
    by sandinator
    9. Your Rear Tires Is your Suspension.
    by Authorized
    10. No suspension. So I switched out the seat for one with springs.
    by Dangerous1Dan
    11. with the fat, bouncy tires -there's no need for suspension.

    6. Out of the box it's about 47 pounds. If you search online there are ways to lighten it. I have new tires on the way that will take several pounds off of the wheels, and that's rotating mass.

    7. around 49 lbs.
