Beverly Hillbilies: Vol. 2 [DVD] 09600906719 Movies

The Beverly Hillbillies: Jed's Dilemma The feud between Granny and Pearl reaches the crisis stage when both ladies decide to take charge of the housekeeping duties in the Clampett mansion. Naturally, Pearl insists that she is only concerned that Granny is getting too old and tired to look after the family. Of course, to make certain that Granny feels too old and tired, Pearl helpfully spikes the old gal's soup with moonshine, er, "rheumatizz medicine." Hoping to calm both ladies down, Jed takes the whole family on a sightseeing tour of the Hills of Beverly. "Jed's Dilemma" was originally shown on January 16, 1963. The Beverly Hillbillies: The Great Feud When Sonny Drysdale (Louis Nye) runs off in terror at the prospect of marrying Elly May, the Clampetts grab their shootin' irons and prepare for a feud against the Drysdale family. Descending upon the Drysdale mansion, the hillbillies take "Mister Butler" (aka Ravenwood the butler) prisoner, but Granny orders Jethro to let the pretty French maid go, ("Aw, shucks!") Meanwhile, Drysdale tries to solve the dilemma in a civilized manner. Enhanced by a terrific "running commentary" ballad courtesy of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, "The Great Feud" was originally telecast on December 10, 1962. The Beverly Hillbillies: Jed Saves Drysdale's Marriage With Mrs. Drysdale away at a health farm, Mr. Drysdale ask if cousin Pearl would be willing to be his housekeeper. As always, Pearl jumps to the wrong conclusion, assuming that Drysdale has asked for her hand in marriage. It is up to the rest of the Clampett clan to straighten out this latest of a long line of "predick-a-ments." "Jed Saves Drysdale's Marriage" first aired on January 23, 1963, at which time "The Beverly Hillbillies" was firmly enscounced as America's number one TV program. The Beverly Hillbillies" The Clampetts Get Culture Try as they might, the Clampetts just can't seem to fit in with Beverly Hills society. Sadly, they tell banker Drysdale that it is time for them to pack up and return to the Ozarks. Not wishing to lose the Clampett account, Drysdale promises to help the Clampetts "get culture" which is how this episode got its title. Eleanor Audley makes a return appearance as Jethro's schoolteacher Millicent Potts. "The Clampetts Get Culture" was originally broadcast on December 18, 1963. The Beverly Hillbillies: The Clampetts Are Overdrawn The millionaire Clampetts are astonished to learn that their bank account is overdrawn to the amount of $34.70. It turns out that there's been a mixup in the bank records: The Hillbillies have received a bank statement intended for J.D. Clampett (King Donovan), an unemployed actor. Conversely, J.D. discovers that his account suddenly contains Jed Clampett's $25 million - and he intends to take full advantage of this clerical boo-boo. Shirley Mitchell appears as J.D.'s equally avaricious spouse Opal. "The Clampetts Are Overdrawn" made its first network appearance on November 13, 1963. The Hillbillies: The Garden Party Determined to disavow the existence of her hillbilly neighbors, Mrs. Drysdale stages a fancy garden party. Though the Clampetts have not been invited, they mistakenly believe that they have, and thus they show up at the party in full "go-to-meetin' clothes" regalia. Before long, all of the Drysdale's guest have gravitated to the Clampett mansion to partake in some of Granny's best "rheumamtizz medicine." Curt Massey, who recorded all the background music for The Beverly Hillbillies, appears as a violinist, while Sharon Tate plays a bit as a party guest. "The Garden Party" originally aired on December 4, 1963. Accordingly, Cousin Pearl "dolls up" in anticipation of meeting the blue-blooded Priscilla, while poor Mrs. Drysdale agonizes over the sudden social ascension of "those dreadful hillbillies." Before things get completely out of hand, Jed Clampett has the good sense to say the wrong thing at the right time. "Jed Cuts The Family Tree" first aired on March 20, 1963.

I was really disappointed in this product. The main reason is that the original opening and ending music has been replaced with some horrible music. It's just not the same without the original music. Spend a little more and get something better!
