CROCUS: Crocus plants are relatively small, reaching just 3-6 inches in height (depending on the variety). The leaves are grass-like, generally with a light stripe running up the middle. Many of the spring-flowering crocus bulbs are among the earliest bloomers. The blooms pucker up at night and re-open in the morning. This mixture concentrates the deep rich blues and purples so loved in crocus. Planting these bulbs creates dramatic "pools of color" in spring, which are stunning under shrubs, in the lawn, along walks...almost anywhere. It simply leaves out the yellow and white, and maximizes the crocus bloom. Your neighbors will be amazed. Colorful Crocus--the first sign of spring! Use them in borders or edging; in groups of a dozen or hundreds and thousands for naturalizing; in the grass, woodlands, slopes, under trees. Measurements are approximate.
