Small error on pot ruined gift but still using

Everything is beautiful about this teapot, however there is a large spot about the size of a quarter on one side that is black. It either didn't pass quality control or got damaged on the way here %26 there are no dents, so I'm thinking quality control. I don't want to waste time or more money shipping it back, so we are keeping and using it, it didn't seem to change how the teapot works. It was a gift for my daughter so a bit disappointing it wasn't perfect especially at this price.
