The summer of 2018 changed my life forever. My usual, stagnant, suburban life, completely flourished and unveiled into a life filled with unknowns, adventures, and flat out insanity. Here I am today sitting in a hotel room in Detroit, Michigan-anticipating my adventures to Portland, Maine-where I'll then travel through Boston, New York, New Jersey, and Virginia. This summer thus far I've traveled through South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. My nineteen-year-old self would literally be in disbelief. I truly believe every manifestation of fate throughout my college years brought me to the point I'm at today. I would never have dreamed that I'd overcome my eating disorder, work for the largest animal rights organization in the world at the age of twenty two and financially support myself by advocating for veganism, sleep in Bill's Jeep for two weeks while traveling the entire west coast, let alone, buy a seventy year old trailer with determination to transform it into a home. I would never have dreamed I would be this madly in love, falling head over heels each and every day with a girl from Texas. I thank her for loving me as much as she does, which brought out a kind of self-love I never experienced before; one that brought out the alter ego in me, commonly known as Sam. Sam has taken over the country this summer, and I see absolutely no reason why I can't take over the world next. My name is Sara Conwell, I'm twenty-three years young, and this is the story of how I flourished into Sam.
