Return policy for late delivery

I ordered this pie dish set on December 9 and it did not arrive until December 27 after I had been told that it was either lost or something happened to it in shipping and yet I was told that I could not return it even though I didn't need it after Christmas, it seems like a terrible policy to me. I was not told and I think that you should've given me a refund for the item.
