    • A. The online offer shows the HDMI cable is included, but this offer is from Wal-Mart, and the cable is NOT included in the Samsung box. However, be careful. My HDMI cable was not shipped with my player, and since the store where I picked it up from the Site-to-Store wouldn't "comp" even their cheapest cable to replace it, I returned the player before leaving the store.

    • A. Yes you can set up your account with Netflix. If you have a plan with at least 3 movies out at a time, you get unlimited access to available streaming movies, and TV series. You do need to buy the adapter for about $74, and follow the instructions. It is a good idea to write down in advance your IP add, Subnet, etc.

I've had this dvd player for about 2 or 3 weeks and it is AWESOME. Not only did it already have a netflix and pandora app installed but when i connected it to the internet with a LAN cable and updated the software i got hulu plus and some more apps. Also not only did it come with the audio/video rca jacks, it also came with a HDMI cable that normally costs about $20. Thank You Jesus for Samsung!! And thank You Walmart.com

Super price for a well known high quality bluray player. Easy setup. Refurbished but looked brand new. Connection to TV using HDMI cable is a snap. Low profile design allows placement under bottom edge of my 42" LCD TV. Attached a photo. Notice how the cables are "hidden". Very happy

I absolutely love this Blu-Ray player. Before purchasing, I read everything I could about many different blu-ray players. One thing that was consistent, was that if it is at all possible, opt for hard-wired, rather than wireless. I completely agree with this. It was not easy running Cat 5 cable from my modem, from basement, across garage and upstairs, but well worth it. One thing many people complained about was firmware updates, and length of time required. Once I hooked it up, I was prepared to wait many, many minutes for firmware update to complete. Made sure it had started, then went to garage to get a coke. When I came back upstairs (just a couple of minutes), update was complete. I have downloaded quite a few movies from NetFlix, and speed is amazing -- and I don't have an especially fast Internet connection. Quality of blu-ray movies is AMAZING! Even downloaded movies are really sharp. And let me say one thing about Wal-Mart. I ordered very, very late on Thursday night, received notice that product shipped on Friday, and would arrive on Tuesday! Imagine my surprise when it actually arrived on Saturday! Outstanding! Way to go Wal-Mart. As much as I actually hate GOING TO Wal-Mart and shopping, I love ordering on-line.

I was only looking for a cheap Blu-Ray player that could also stream NetFlix. Was I ever surprised. This little wonder does it all ... Blu-Ray, DVD, DivX, H.264, home burnt cd's & dvd's. It will stream NetFlix, Vudu, Youtube and others (including connecting to Facebook). However, it does not connect to Hulu or Hulu Plus. Has USB port for USB devices (memory sticks, etc.). Also has DLNA capabilities for those that want to stream media from their home networks. It does not come with the wireless adapter, not a problem for me since I prefer to use a Cat-5 cable with the RJ-45 jack (faster speeds than wireless). For those that have asked, mine did ship with an included HDMI cable.

blu-ray,dvd, netflix, pandora, apps, and streaming files from my computer. I've had for 3 weeks and everything works great. I'm on my free month of netflix (didn't realize how few shows netflix offers) I've tried a dozen or so different applications (crackle is a nice free movie app) they load fast even on my basic cable internet, a few apps are preloaded and cant be removed. I haven't found a file format it cant play, I mainly run movies from my external hard drive that i've plugged into the front side usb port. movies from my usb drive have the option to fast-forward seamlessly and allows you to go frame by frame. streamed movies (netflix and crackle) fast forward jump a span of 5 seconds or so and cant do frame by frame. dvd auto play when put in and if you leave the disk as soon as you power it on it will start playing the dvd. would be nice to have a query keyboard, but most places have it where you can use the number pad (like old phone texting) to type in words.

    Samsung BD-C5500 Is Just OK...Slow & Freezes

[Review date: 4/15/11] My title says it all...the blu-ray player is a bit slow loading/responding and online services/programs have frozen the unit to no avail until turned off and back on again. Once, I was able to get the unit to "exit" the (Netflix) program, but I still had to re-start the service to get back to my program...either way, it takes time to reload. I also have both another (red fruit) TV receiver which has never had such a problem...wirelessly! and Media Center (on PC) that also has never lost programming during playback. I also encountered glitches using the USB port to play media...Samsung unit displaying 'unrecognized device', only recognizing USB device after re-insertion but then losing connection to USB connected device. Anyway, I want to like this player so, I am going to give it some more time for a possible firmware upgrade to improve performance and also to determine product longevity...I'm expecting a minimum of 3 years (hoping for 5 years) trouble-free use.

I usually shy away from Refurbished items, but the price on this blueray DVD player that also have internet applications was too good to pass. Walmart's very affordable extended warranty plans gave me additional comfort on this purchase. So on to the rating: Pros 1. The load time for DVDs has been good. 2. I connected it with a wired eithernet cable, and the videos from Netflicks have been perfect. Some reviewers had said videos have to be in your instant play que to get to them, but this player has a very good search feature with Netflicks. 3. It also has a Blockbuster application. I haven't rented yet, but I set it up without issue. It's nice to have the option to use another movie source. 4. The updates have not taken long at all to download. I wonder if the people that had issues with long download times have a slower internet connection. Mine isn't the fastest available, but it is cable. I had the update downloaded, a Netflicks account created, and a movie playing in about 30 minutes of installing the player. 5. The weather channel app is a nice touch. 6. I think the remote is fine. People have dogged it in other reviews, but it is a remote that does what is needed. 7. I didn't have an included HDMI cable in the box, but I didn't expect one. 8. It feels really light weight (which can feel cheap), but so far the quality seems to be good. Cons: 1. The You Tube search feature is slow and awkward, but I didn't buy this to do a lot of You Tube viewing. It's a plus that it even has You Tube capability. 2. The scan through scenes feature displays a small picture of the scene selection image while you are forwarding or rewinding, which sounds like a cool idea, but it also blocks part of the scene so can be a pain. I haven't figured out if it can be removed yet. Not terrible, just annoying. I am so very happy with this blueray player.

Customer has been confirmed to have purchased the item from Walmart.

Did some research and this was one of the top rated untis and the option for me. Have been waiting to buy a Blu-Ray Player for a while and desided on this one based on reports from Consumer Reports and other reviews. All of the Blu-Ray Players work pretty good as far as picture quality but you want to look at the Features they come with. How long it takes to Lode a Disk and other features you may be looking for. Some are internet ready, come with Apps, Wi-Fi capable and some have tones of features. So when shopping look at the extras and see if it's what you want. I purchased the Extended 2-Year Warranty for $9.00 & something, well worth it for peace of mind sence this Player is a Refurbished product. It looked pretty good and almost new with some very light scratches on the front besel plastic (Hardly noticable) and a tini dent on a corner. Which ever one you pick...have fun watching HD DVDs and the HD of Blu-Rays.

This Blu-ray player was rated by consumer report as a consumer best buy. Based on this and a great Walmart price I purchased this product and I am very happy with it. I did not purchase the wireless adapter yet because my TV is already equipped with wireless for streaming movies and other internet content.

Before I bought this, I read a lot of the reviews on this page just to make sure before I bought. I am one of the few that just wanted it to play blu rays and dvds. I was not disappointed! Mine came from Walmart.com in four days (that includes a Sunday), was packaged in a Samsung box, was in great condition, and came with a HDMI cord ( I read some of the reviews that didn't have one. Buy one after they open your box at the counter#. I literally took my old dvd player out, plugged in the Blu Ray, hooked up the cords, put in some batteries in the remote, and put in a movie that my daughter wanted to see #Barbie!). I do have to say too, that I have a Samsung HDTV I am hooking it up to. The picture is amazing! It even makes my DVDs look great. The loading time was also not long at all. The Blu Rays look even better than the DVDs. I did also purchase a warranty on it in case it did or does have problems, I won't have a problem getting it repaired. Buy this. Don't waste your money on anything else! You won't be sorry!
