  • A. The thing is, walmart, will put the bike together. I stressed to walmart that I dont trust noone assembling a bike for me. I always built my own bikes as a kid. Walmart has some sort of policy that all bikes are to be assembled instore soo that being said, your answer is questioned. I mean your question is answered. YET!!! A great thing I didn't know is that if you want any tweeks done, a walmart bike assembler will also do that for you as well till your satisfied. I didn't have it done tho my wife told the assembler that I would be very picky when i came home from work to check the bike out and when I did come home to check the bike out, it was very well put together lol. Pre adjusted and everything to his personal preferences and I was very pleased. The only thing I had to do is attach a child cart trailer. Everything was perfect else bike wise was perfect.

Great Starter Bike

I purchased this bike because I wanted to start commuting to work mainly to get back in shape & also to save some money on the side. I just graduated college and need to get back in shape. I commute 2-3 times per week, and I have over 100 miles on the bike already. This includes both street and trails. This is a great bike for the price. Some of the bad reviews were right about the chain railing off but that was because of the shifting... in the rear there are 7 gears, the chain will derail itself if you go beyond the 1 gear. Since this is a grip shifter, you can actually shift/twist under and beyond 1 gear, which will derail the chain. When shifting to lower gear, if you just pay attention to your shifting, you won't have a problem with the chain derailing. It might happen once or twice when you first get the bike, but the chain is easy to rerail it back on to the gears. It's a common problem with grip shifters. It's a great starter bike! In the end, I was still sceptical, so I paid $40 at the local bike shop to do total maintenance work on the bike... They said it was a great bike, and they saw no problems. I'll will definitely upgrade to a better bike in the future, but for now, I love this bike!

So I recently received the Mongoose XR-200 as a Christmas gift from my fiance. I was in love with the bike from recent sightings when in the bike section at Walmart. I knew I was getting this bike and couldn't wait. When I received the bike it was already put together by a Walmart employee. Do not ever buy a bike that is already put together!!!! This bike is so much better than most people think. They are just receiving a bike that is poorly put together. I also had many problems with the rear derailleur, and it was a pain fixing it. Also, they had jacked up the front disc brake settings so I also had to fix that too. The rear brake cable wasn't even in the slots that it was supposed to be in. Overall this bike is amazing. I have had no problems with it now. You just have to be patient and look over your bike if you received it already put together. Anyways, this bike is an amazing bike if you just put the time into tightening everything and adjusting everything right. The rear derailleur is the biggest flaw, but it just needs some adjustments to work smoothly. Hope everyone found this review helpful. (Also, in the picture I uploaded the only thing I have done to this bike is put an LED light on the handle bars for night riding and put a water bottle cage on it.)

Before i bought this bike i got the xr-75 and was very disapointed. had that bike for 5 days when the chain snapped. the third day i had the bike the rear break cable broke. So i returned the bike and purchased the xr-200. This bike has been amazing. Love the front disc break, and the smooth ride the bike has on and off road. The worst thing i have had to do to the bike is tighten the handle bars after the first ride. This bike is worth every cent. Dont go cheap with the xr75 you will be disapointed. i assembled the bike myself which i highly recommend.

I used to ride quite a bit when i was a kid. Mountains, off road, dirt tracks, in town out of town everywhere. I rarely done so in my 20's and now I'm 30. I went today after purchasing a kid cart trailer and rode with ease. I done, 7 to 10 miles today. I admit after a few hours I was on fire yet I rearranged the gears to a high gear. Or whichever it is, i can't remember. That makes uphill much easer. And made it easily. I even went offroad today and was having an easy time doing so. The kickstand was real annoying while attaching the kid cart trailer yet I made it happen with a few adjustments, my own, and fit everything back together just as easy. I never even noticed she was even attached while riding. the front disk breaks are a bit cheesy yet i kept them as is to slow my roll down a small enbankment and which i felt the disk breaks made me feel more comfortable going downhill with the trailer attached cause they didn't lock when I needed breaking more then anything. I read a great many bad reviews about this bike and the only one i agree with is that THE BIKES ORIGINAL SEAT REALLY HURTS YOUR BEHIND!!!!!!!! LOL Spend a bit of cash and replace that thing! The gears tho do clink but all you have to do is adjust the hand switches just a hair and the clinking goes away.
