Would of been five star if it would run on my laptop
About This Item
Graphic tablets aren't just for artists anymore!
A graphic tablet can be used as a substitute for a mouse, replacing a less natural movement with the more natural movement of the pen on the paper, thereby reducing the chance of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI), like carpal tunnel syndrome. Of course, it also makes any drawing type of activity, including embedded signatures, simpler and easier to accomplish. Graphic tablets are also great for kids, allowing them to unleash their natural creativity into a form that is easy to email to grandparents and other relations.
This high-quality tablet from Monoprice is priced just right, so everyone can enjoy the benefits of a graphic tablet. It includes several software utilities, such as PenSigner and PenMail, which allow you to use handwritten signatures and emails in your daily correspondence, adding a personal touch to what is usually thought of as an impersonal medium.
Easy to install and use, once you try one you'll wonder how you ever got along without one!

12x9 Monoprice Graphic Drawing Tablet
When I received the 12x9 Monoprice Graphic Drawing Tablet, I was elated and I could not wait to check it out. I read the directions that are on the tablet cover which read, "Please plug in the tablet into your PC BEFORE installing the driver." (Yes, that is written on the cover.) "Okay," I thought - it seems simple enough. It wasn't. Here's why: there are opposing instructions on the tablet cover (first instructions seen) vs. the user's guide (which you can see after the software has been loaded into the computer). Since the tablet cover was seen first, I read it and followed those directions - plugging the tablet into the computer first. Then, after installing the software, a user's guide was available and it states that the USB cord should be plugged into the computer AFTER installing the software and the computer restarted. I had wondered why the software was not in tune with the tablet, I could do nothing with it; so, naturally I thought that I needed to reinstall using the user guide's directions. So I deleted the software and re-installed it and restarted the computer - this time plugging in the tablet AFTER the software had been installed. Again, there was no communication between the computer and the tablet. Then, I checked out the USB connection, and plugged the tablet into another USB connection. Verified the compatibility with my computer - VISTA - clearly mentioned in the user guide that VISTA is compatible. Changed the battery in the pen in case that had gotten old. The frustration with the Monoprice tablet grew and grew. Daily for 4 or more days, hours were spent trying to make this tablet work. Although, I am certainly competent with computers, my spouse is much more competent. He worked with me over the 4 or more days to discover what the problem was so that we could fix it. And, then he verified that is was nothing on our end. One of the photos below shows the instructions that cover the tablet. It also shows the wording used in the instructions - grammatically problematic - and causes one to think twice about purchasing any Monoprice products. That sentence or two may be demonstrative of greater issues (i.e. quality control issues, lack of concern with usability, etc). In the end, this is a product with no legs to carry it. Oh, and by the way, not sure if I needed the mouse but I did not receive it. Very disappointed in this product.
I was so excited to receive this tablet because my husband is a graphic artist. It seemed like this was right up his alley!! Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. If I (If we) could figure out how to use this product, I'm sure I would love it. The directions said to plug into the PC before installing the driver. Well of course we plugged it in and then installed the appropriate software. The computer read the connection right away, but we had to search for the tablet in the driver's ourselves to install all the software. Very frustrating it didn't do this automatically. Once installed, the tablet lit up, turned on, but nothing showed on the actual computer screen. The tablet, yes did turn on, but what's the point if I can't use it in conjunction with my computer. All the cables were connected and the unit was up to date. That being said, the table just doesn't do a thing. Maybe I don't have the right technological skills. But my husband and I spent a couple days trying to figure this thing out. It's very sturdy in design. An awesome size and oh how I WISH it worked!!! but right now it's just a giant paperweight. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this product. After browsing through other reviews, I find that I'm not alone in my review. This tablet is definitely NOT user friendly. There are no usable directions included in the box. The tablet doesn't create a shortcut on the desktop. there is no automatic install. No troubleshooting help available. It's just not something I can recommend. I give it the lowest stars possible.
