Key item features

  • Extreme Potency: Some sources claim this pepper is the hottest in the world, with capsaicinoids binding to pain receptors to create a burning sensation.
  • Mexican Origin: This extremely hot bird's eye pepper originates from a native Mexican shrub and is sometimes called the "mother of all peppers" as the only wild native chile to the US.
  • Perennial Growth: Plants can be over-wintered in a frost-free place to flower and fruit the following year as a short-lived perennial.
  • Careful Handling: Handle the fruit and seeds very carefully, wash hands after handling, and keep away from eyes and children.
  • Distinctive Flavor: The Chiltepin is a very small chile with a distinctive smoky bite, often eaten sun-dried, added to various foods, or pickled.
  • Varied Nomenclature: Known by many names including Chiltepin, Chile Tepin, Chile del Monte, Chillipiquin, a'al kokoli (O'odham), Chiltepictl (Nahuatl), and Amash (Mayan).

poor quality plants

Plants arrived but barely had any roots . When you removed them from pots to transplant there was no root ball and all the dirt fell away. One plant survived but the other did not .I would not buy from this seller since they wanted to argue about giving me a refund.
