When we were told that we should have a dehumidifier, I went to the WalMart website and looke at all the different models. The principle reason that I chose this one is the fact that it has a convenient sight glass on the front for easy monitoring of the collected water level. The unit has performed exactly as expected from day one (a couple of weeks ago). I only have to run it about 30 - 45 minutes to lower the humity significantly, as our basement is a somewhat small one at less than 500 square feet. This model is not excessively noisy. (Anything that moves air is going to make some noise.) There is a handle to carry the unit, and also a handle on the water bucket. When the bucket fills up, a warning light goes on, then an audible alarm sounds if the bucket is full for more than 3 minutes, or missing. Very nice! This model has lots of nice features and seems to be well built. Go for it!

Unit is very quiet on low fan setting (has 3 speeds - LMH), bucket has a clear plastic strip with a small red floating bead so you can see the water level without taking out bucket. It can dehumidify the air by about 20% RH in a 20' x 20' room in a few hours, and seems to max out around 35-40% RH change. Has hose hookup (fits standard garden hose) so you don't have to use bucket, hose hookup sits above bucket and drains into bucket normally so you can switch between hose and bucket easily. (Other dehumidifiers I've seen have you cut a chunk out of the bucket to attach a hose, this unit attaches straight to water collector/drain.) I read reviews saying that the bucket overflow switch doesn't work, and initially I thought mine had the same problem, but I let it run and discovered that it actually has a built-in cutoff delay so you can pull the bucket, empty it, and replace it without causing the unit to turn off and back on (which normally causes a 3 minute defrost wait period). This delay isn't long enough to cause a problem with overfilling the bucket, though you may want to have a rag handy for setting under the the drain to catch the water dripping while you take the bucket to the sink or tub to empty it. Unit has a filter that you can access by removing bucket, filter is very similar to those found in window-mounted A/C units. Unit also has auto-defrost feature, so if you hook up a hose you can let it run 24/7 without ever bothering with it. Overall good unit, would definitely buy another if I ever needed to for anywhere else.

- A. The air filter is behind the front grille. You should check and clean it once the -clean the filter light goes on-usually at 250 hours it says. The instructions say to remove-Remove the bucket. Grasp the filter edge, and pull it straight down and out. Clean the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and let the filter dry before replacing. Caution: dont operate it without the filter as it will clog it and reduce performanceby BumbullBee5/26/2013Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)Was this answer helpful?
