When we were told that we should have a dehumidifier, I went to the WalMart website and looke at all the different models. The principle reason that I chose this one is the fact that it has a convenient sight glass on the front for easy monitoring of the collected water level. The unit has performed exactly as expected from day one (a couple of weeks ago). I only have to run it about 30 - 45 minutes to lower the humity significantly, as our basement is a somewhat small one at less than 500 square feet. This model is not excessively noisy. (Anything that moves air is going to make some noise.) There is a handle to carry the unit, and also a handle on the water bucket. When the bucket fills up, a warning light goes on, then an audible alarm sounds if the bucket is full for more than 3 minutes, or missing. Very nice! This model has lots of nice features and seems to be well built. Go for it!

Unit is very quiet on low fan setting (has 3 speeds - LMH), bucket has a clear plastic strip with a small red floating bead so you can see the water level without taking out bucket. It can dehumidify the air by about 20% RH in a 20' x 20' room in a few hours, and seems to max out around 35-40% RH change. Has hose hookup (fits standard garden hose) so you don't have to use bucket, hose hookup sits above bucket and drains into bucket normally so you can switch between hose and bucket easily. (Other dehumidifiers I've seen have you cut a chunk out of the bucket to attach a hose, this unit attaches straight to water collector/drain.) I read reviews saying that the bucket overflow switch doesn't work, and initially I thought mine had the same problem, but I let it run and discovered that it actually has a built-in cutoff delay so you can pull the bucket, empty it, and replace it without causing the unit to turn off and back on (which normally causes a 3 minute defrost wait period). This delay isn't long enough to cause a problem with overfilling the bucket, though you may want to have a rag handy for setting under the the drain to catch the water dripping while you take the bucket to the sink or tub to empty it. Unit has a filter that you can access by removing bucket, filter is very similar to those found in window-mounted A/C units. Unit also has auto-defrost feature, so if you hook up a hose you can let it run 24/7 without ever bothering with it. Overall good unit, would definitely buy another if I ever needed to for anywhere else.

After checking several different units selected this model as it has auto-on if the power is interrupted. So far it is doing it's job. The only oddity is that when you reset the humidity control the indicator defaults to 50% and I was going to return the unit. However, after reading the instructions it takes 3 minutes to reset to new setting. Sure enough when I went back to check it it did revert to the selected setting. So it works as per instructions, but, it is counterintuitve way of doing changes. Also, the unit cycles dehumifying and just blowing air (ie:fan operates continuously) I would think that for an energy star rated appliance it would go to a interrupt mode and call for the unit to operate when humidity raises. As it is now it does it's job but I doubt it is that energy efficient. Note that depending where you live this unit does qualify for a rebate so that sweeten the cost. BTW, Wally world had the best price for this unit after comprison shopping local and on-line.

This product works very well! I got it for my house. I do not have central air and as a result the humidity builds up inside (especially in the south). This item cost more than I was originally willing to spend but looking back I'm glad I purchased it. It take so much humidity out of the air that I have to empty it about twice a day. Once before I leave for work and once when I get home from work. I'd likt to have been able to get the 50pt but the price difference was extreme. I recomdnd this item for anyone in a similar situation. It works great in all areas of the home and basement as well. I do not think the noise level is loud like some of the reviews - but then again not many things can compete with volume of three kids! Great buy! I'd like to get a second one so I wouldent have to move the one I have around the house. Yet, it moves easily on roller wheels.

Our cold room humidity was approaching 85%, so we decided to get a dehumidifier. After reading the reviews on line about this model we purchased this one. Walmart had the best price and we have now had it for several weeks. Within two days the humidity level dropped below 40% and we couldn't be happier. We love the 4hr turn off feature. The only thing we wished worked different is the humidifier controller actually turned off the whole unit instead of leaving the fan running continually.

Very efficient product. I didn't realize there was that much moistier in the air. I live in the southern U.S. and this de-humidifier runs round the clock. It takes about a day to get the humidity down to about 50%. It's placed in a 10X20 room that's prone to water seepage. I would recommend to anyone. And, I use the water gathered to water the plants....

We are quite pleased with this product. It is easy to understand and use and is easy to empty and replace the water tub. It is noisier than we expected. We keep it in our crawlspace so we don't notice the motor running that much.

This unit worked very well in my garage, which is extremely humid due to lack of air circulation. The first day I used it, the bucket filled up quickly and I emptied the bucket. The next day when I checked, the water was all over the garage floor! Apparently, the switch that is supposed to shut it off when full stopped working! I thought that maybe the bucket wasn't positioned correctly, but even when I removed the bucket, it kept running! I pressed the button that is supposed to be sensitive to the float if full, and even that didn't make a difference. The switch definitely broke and so the only option would have been to use a hose so that bucket overflow wouldn't be a problem, which I was going to do anyway, but I am still going to exchange it for a new one. Otherwise, it removes water well, and it's not too loud. The only noise is from the fan, whereas with my old Delonghi , you could hear the compressor.

We were having huge problems with the winter time humidity. The north coast of California is like living inside of a fog bank in the winter. The mold and humidity were destroying our kitchen. This dehumidifier brought everything under control. We had to run it 24 hours a day for two weeks to dry out the kitchen. It collected about 2 gallons per day(16 pints). Once everything was dry we run it a few hours a day to keep it dry. It has performed without a problem for over a month.
