Walmart has created voice ordering capabilities for our Grocery Pickup and Delivery customers that can be accessed across different platforms and devices powered by Google Assistant.

For example, just say, “Ok Google, ask Walmart to add milk to my cart,” and the Google Assistant will recommend and add your preferred type of milk into your grocery cart. 

And, Google Assistant makes personalized item recommendations based on your Walmart shopping history and preferences. Items are added instantly to your Walmart cart and are visible immediately in the Walmart App or via your web browser.

This is hands-free help that you can hear and see—saving you even more time, and allowing you to get back to your day.

Setup

Android users:

  1. To get started, simply say “Ok Google, talk to Walmart.”
  2. Once prompted, tap the link to connect & sign in to your Walmart account.

Apple iOS users

  1. Download the Google Assistant app from the app store.
  2. Sign in with a Gmail account.
  3. Ask your assistant to “Talk to Walmart.”
  4. Once prompted, tap the link to sign in to your Walmart account.

Ways to use Google Assistant to shop Walmart Grocery

Google Assistant can help you shop on Walmart Grocery with commands for adding to your cart, removing from your cart and checking prices and availability. It can also help with other frequently asked questions, like checking your order status. Below are some common commands and examples. 

Commands for adding items to your cart

Ok Google, tell Walmart to add cereal to my cart.”

Example response from Google Assistant: “Ok, I see that in the past you’ve bought Value Size, Kellogg’s Special K Breakfast Cereal for $3.88. Would you like for me to add this to your cart?”

Commands for checking items in your cart

“Ok Google, what’s in my cart?”

Example response from Google Assistant: “Your cart has bacon, eggs, cereal, bananas and spinach totaling $31.45. You’ll need to add $4 more to reach the $35 minimum required for pickup. Would you like to add anything else to your cart?”

Commands for modifying your cart

“Ok Google, tell Walmart to add 4 more bananas.”

Example response from Google Assistant: “Ok, adding 4 will give you a total of 6 bananas. Is that what you would like me to do?”

“Ok Google, tell Walmart I don’t want bananas anymore.”

“Ok Google, can I apply a promo code?

Example response from Google Assistant: “Sure, you can add a promo code directly during checkout on the Walmart Grocery App. After you enter your payment information, simply enter the 8-digit promo code and click Apply.”

“Ok Google, where do I pick up my order?

Example response from Google Assistant: “Look for the Walmart Grocery reserved pickup area. At most Walmarts this area is clearly marked with orange signs. We’ll also send you a map with your pickup location in a confirmation email when your order is ready to pick up. Is there anything else I can help you with?”

“Ok Google, what time can I pick up my order?

Example response from Google Assistant: “Your order will be ready for pickup between 3 and 4 pm tomorrow. We’ll send you an email when your order is ready to pick up.”
