"big boy" room makeover
I love how excited kids get about going from a nursery to a “big boy” or “big girl” room. It makes them feel so grown up (even though, to us, they’re still our little ones). When I read about this boy’s room makeover on the Life of Lee blog, I instantly wanted to share its highlights with you here. It covers so many of the factors that come with designing a “big boy” room and what it’s like to live in this transition from nursery to boy’s room. Read on for my favorite highlights.

A kids' room storage unit with shelves, drawers and storage hooks under a gallery wall in a little boy's room.
1. Storage
The first thing Lee Anne of Life by Lee wanted for her son’s “big boy” room was more storage. Not only that, but she wanted the storage pieces to reflect the fact that this wasn’t a nursery anymore. What she found was a gorgeous set of shelves that served as both storage as well as decorative furniture. Best of all, they’re made for kids and her son could easily access his toys from the two units that she bought.

I’m seriously in love with these storage units. They have so many different areas for storage. The bottom area is perfect for stuffed animals. There are also drawers for organizing and tons of bookshelf space. I like that I can use the top area for little decorative pieces as well.
