Cufflinks can add an elegant and stylish statement to a mans attire as well as injecting a bit of personality. Our goldtone rope bezel coin cuff links include 1913 "First-Year-of-Issue" genuine U.S. Buffalo Nickels encircled by antique rope settings that will make your cuffs a great conversation starter at your social event. The First Year of Issue Buffalo Nickel was first released into circulation on March 4, 1913 and composed of copper and nickel. The design was created to enhance the beauty of American coinage. The designer James Earle Fraser wanted to create something totally American and therefore decided upon the Buffalo which was unique and a large part of our western states heritage. The Native American Indian also fit right into his idea. Fraser claims he used several composites to draw the portrait of the Native American Indian Head which is on the obverse of the coin. Fraser said the reverse design was modeled after Black Diamond, a bison at the Bronx Zoo. But historians claim Black Diamond was never at the Bronx Zoo but was housed at the Central Park Zoo. Another bison, Bronx, was the leader of the herd at the Bronx Zoo. The placement of the horns on the nickel differ greatly from that of Black Diamond leaving one to wonder if he was the model. The American public deemed to call it the Buffalo Nickel since its first release in 1913. The Buffalo or Indian Head nickel was last minted in 1938. Each coin is lavishly layered in pure 24k Gold. These coin cuff links have bullet back closures making them very easy to put on. This collectible arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Cufflinks can add an elegant and stylish statement to a mans attire as well as injecting a bit of personality. Our goldtone rope bezel coin cuff links include genuine Civil War Era U.S. Indian Head Pennies encircled by antique rope settings that will make your cuffs a great conversation starter at your social event. These pennies will be dated from the years 1861 - 1865. In 1858 the director of the mint suggested a design change to the one cent coin as it was difficult to strike. James B. Longacre was selected to design the new one cent coin. Longacre decided to use Liberty on the obverse of the coin. Legend states that he modeled Liberty after his daughter Sarah wearing a headdress of an Indian Chief who visited the mint. No one knows if Sarah was the model as James B. Longacre once stated Venus, a Greek statue, was his inspiration for the design. The reverse was first designed to resemble laurel and then was changed to oak. Composition changes occurred during the 50 year reign of the Indian Head Cent ranging from copper nickel to bronze. The copper nickel Indian Head cents were so light in color they were called white cents. The Indian Head cent was minted from 1859-1909. These coin cuff links have bullet back closures making them very easy to put on. Each coin is lavishly layered in pure 24k Gold. This collectible arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity.
