What our shoppers say:
Easy to put together, Snow Blower
Snow Blower, easy to put together. No Snow yet, but started right up. Had a previous 22\" MTD Snow Blower just a step down, from this one. Price, size, light is why I bought this model. Looks impressive, w\/shoes, and past experience w\/this American made product.
I put gas and oil in and checked the gear oil. Everything ready. Got ready to have to pull multiple times and was suprised that it started on the very first pull. I have now used this tiller 6 times and it has started on the first pull every time. Amazing, most devices take multiple times of pulling before it starts. I checked around on tillers at several big box stores and this tiller was larger and at least $200-400 cheaper, definitely worth the money. Plus free shipping to the nearest Wal-Mart.
I have owned this product (Series 200) for 5+ years now without any problems. My model has the single horizontal handle bar, not the double bicycle grip type shown in some images. It also has the double rear wheel which is mounted directly to the wheel bar. I don't understand how people are breaking the wheels as it clearly states in the manual (page 7 & 8) as follows:\n>> Wheels - The tiller is shipped with the wheel adjusted such that the unit sits level. Before tilling, the wheel must be raised.... For transporting the tiller, reverse the steps to lower the wheel. <<\nPersonally, I remove the wheel bar all together when tilling and solely utilize the depth stake. Unlike rear tine tillers, when doing a deep cut, it is best to make several passes adjusting the depth each time. This will minimize climb and\/or jump when hitting hard pack, caliche dirt, or a large rock.\nThe reason I gave it 4 stars is because the handle seems to flex more then it should, and will probably be the first thing to break. Also, I would prefer a trigger style clutch engagement over the bar design which can pinch when tilling hard-pack.
I just had to write a review for this snowblower after reading the bad reviews people have left. I have owned this same exact snowblower that I purchased from Walmart in 1992..yes 1992! That is 21 years. I want to also state that I live in upstate New York where we average 100+ inches of snow per winter and I love this snowblower. It has never failed us. In 20 yrs all we have had to do is replace a spark plug every few years and after maybe 15 yrs and 100s of uses the pull string. I would recommend this too anyone and would buy another one in a heart beat. So judge for yourself not by these bad reviews...
I received my snow thrower just in time for the snow to fly here in Utah but after assembling the machine noticed that the chute assembly was missing it's handle. The 800 number for MTD was unhelpful and walmart.com 800 number was so busy it was impossible to get to. So I was forced to purchase the part through MTD for an extra $15 so I could bypass all the phone system nightmares and try to get the thing fully operational before the first snow and it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Very disappointing.
When we made the purchase we were not really happy with the delivery date, but then it turns out to be 3 days later than the latest day promised! So I'm sorry I purchased it from Walmart.com. If I would have known it would take this long I would have had it delivered to the nearest store and picked it up.
