A dumb, dumb film, to be sure, but also undeniably funny in more spots than a right-thinking, mature adult person feels comfortable admitting.
Honestly, if the makers of this ever got serious about making web-based comedy, I reckon that they would absolutely rock it. |

While the movie seems designed to be a breakout for Jang, it's Lee whose work actually makes an impression. You guess he'll be back - hopefully, playing it straight next time.
The film's details suggest potential for a lively, bizarre, action-comedy cult classic. It just never comes together the way it needs to. |

Beautifully acted, it's a tender love story with one or two belly laughs.
Pretty good performance, awfully lame movie. |

Bad Santa is the most fun you'll have while watching someone destroy themselves.
Zwigoff and company wring some laughs out of it, though the tone is uniformly mean and vulgar. |

I was a big fan of Bad Santa in when it came out in the theaters. I saw it three times I liked it so much. I had rented it when it first came out and I didnu2019t like it nearly as much and it felt different. It turned out it was the unrated Badder Santa version. I didnu2019t care for the Badder Santa version of the movie at all even though it wasnt much different. So I have been looking for the original theatrical version ever since. I found it on this site at a good price so I purchased it. The special features on this DVD are a bit thin but at this price that doesnu2019t matter. You can get the Unrated Badder Santa Cut and the Bad Santa Director's Cut on Blu-Ray together but as far as I know this is the only way to purchase the theatrical version. By the way there are 3 versions of the movie: 01 - Bad Santa(Theatrical Cut): The version released in theaters. The movie I love and remember. This version is around 91 minutes long. 02 - Badder Santa(Unrated Cut): This is a version of the movie that was made by the studios without consulting the director. Everything that was cut out is thrown back in, including stuff that seems like it was cut out for timing reasons. This is the longest version of all coming in at around 98 minutes. 03 u2013 Bad Santa(Directors Cut): A much darker movie. It seems like this was the directors original vision and when the studio tested it with audiences they thought that Willie was too unlikeable. The studio probably had them film a few extra bits with Thurman Merman and Willie to make him more likeable and added them to the version that was released in theaters. Marcus and Lois are a bit more despicable in the Director's Cut also. And there is an alternate ending that some may not be happy with. This is the shortest version of all coming in at around 88 minutes.
