That the actors can pull off such Oprah-friendly, sci-fi-inflected sap and keep straight faces is the most fantastic thing about this loopy love story.
While the script could have done more to exploit Bana's sense of humour, it does profit from his directness. There are no false heroics. |

This is a riveting film that requires more than popcorn –maybe a box of tissues.
Rachel McAdams part as Clare is electrifyingly riveting. Rachel radiates and glows from within this part of Clare with conviction and belief. Rachel’s eyes have luminosity to them throughout the film, even in darker situations. Words seem inadequate to describe this portrayal. It is so absorbing and completely draws one’s attention into the film, that one is ‘transported’ on set, with Henry and Clare. Especially the last scene, I found myself urging Clare on to run faster, and Rachel McAdams does run the race of her life! With Eric Bana (beautiful accent), as Henry, this couple are believable and convincing. The whole cast of actors is well chosen especially the children.
Thoroughly satisfying with extra features included and interviews with the lead actors, help one understand this ‘time travel’ phenomena.

The movie goes way over the top near the end, but unlike Hollywood films, which would've added violence and a car chase, The Operator's excesses all are in keeping with its theme.
This debut film from local writer-director Jon Dichter has an interesting concept, but its execution feels a bit amateurish, especially in the dialogue. |

A darkly cynical and uncompromising gem.
Best to savor The Grifters for its handsome design -- the picture looks as clean as a Hockney landscape -- and its juicy performances. |

Although this slick Seagal action pic won't convert die-hard detractors, aficionados will note that he's both gained weight and lightened up.
The plot of The Glimmer Man involves not only the Family Man but Our Evil Secret Government, the Russian Mafia and Rich Powerful Politicians -- the three stooges of action cinema in the '90s. |

It's mildly amusing, but I certainly can't recommend it.
This ingrown mutant is easily the most bizarre children's film made in this country since 1982's lab-rat apocalypse The Secret of NIMH. |

Nielsen, an actor who is either brilliant or abysmal depending on the material, veers towards the latter.
By turns frenetic and flat-footed, Mr. Magoo is an uninspired live-action comedy. |

Largely this sad story is handled with a morbidity and monotony that go nowhere -- certainly not toward understanding.
This is a film that succeeds on the strength of its acting, which is uniformly brilliant. - Arizona Republic, 2003-03-07 |

Comic perfection. | |
Considering that none of the characters is fresh or interesting, it's a commendable achievement that the quality of the storytelling alone keeps the movie watchable and likable. |
