Both overall director Richard Fleischer and his Japanese counterparts do a dull job, and the monotonously low-key tone of scene after scene almost suggests that each was filmed without a sense of ultimate slotting in the finished form.
IMHO, this movie was not only graphically entertaining, but also presented a truly accurate, historical representation of what led up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The acting was superb and to add to the realism, the Japanese parts were spoken in Japanese with subtitles. I would recommend this DVD to anyone who is a WWII buff in search for facts. Yes, this is an older DVD, but the picture quality was very good. Sound lacked the 5.1\/7.1 envelope, but still not degraded the overall quality of this movie.
