[Cera] has some of the best comic timing of anyone working in film today, a precocious sense of the awkward pauses and misread cues in which social panic resides.

Pineapple Express has its fair share of laughs, but it's a fundamentally heartless and unlovable minor work from Team Apatow.

Watching this without having got stoned first is like watching a 3D movie without the special glasses. There are a few moderate laughs (and a nice Jude Law gag) but the full-on gory violence is disconcerting and unfunny.

With so much reliable talent involved in this film it is extremely disappointing that it is only a mildly amusing comedy with a smattering of reasonably fun science-fiction references.

It is not that Paul is in any way a bad movie. It is just a very average one.

Paper Heart doesn't unearth the meaning of 'love' (spoiler alert?) but it at least shows us how real human beings deal with all those confusing emotions that might equal something close to it.

Ultimately, one doubts that even the parts that seemed real are real, and the entire house-of-cards comes tumbling down.
